how to change lines on a peak

ssayre - 2-5-2015 at 11:40 AM

So I got crazy today and chopped up a peter lynn line set I had. I made a 5 meter line set. Holy crap, I like to fiddle with my kites as much as the next guy but changing lines seemed way more difficult than I thought. Am I just a moron or is there an easy way. Best I can tell, you have to have factory loops on at least on the bar side??

I'll post some pictures. I'm not 100% sure I have it right.

Your lines most likely consist of 3, 6, 12m segments totaling 21m minus the mixer.........this is the standard or has been for FSer over the yrs........each end of the lines are looped. You can connect the lines via loop to loop or with the metal elc (easy line connectors) same as the mixer...................:duh:

Thanks tridude. I'm at my spot now. It flies great on 5 meter lines but I'm going to try and figure out how to put the long lines back on. I'm coming to the conclusion that I need to make or acquire a dedicated bar for short lines. Switching lines seems like a colossal pain.

PKS Universal Pigtails might be another solution...... one time grief and then easy swaps without having to spring for a separate bar.

I put the long lines back on but I didn't pay close enough attention when I took it apart. One of the center lines looks like it larks head over the ring and the other runs through the ring connects to the safety line using a more fancy loop to loop connection. I put it on loop to loop but I think it was different to make the knot bigger to keep it from slipping through ring. I'll post some pictures but if someone that has a peak can investigate how that connection goes, please let me know.

Here is a link for what I've done so far. Peak center line connection

I emailed flysurfer and this is how they say to connect the front line to the FLS line in case anyone else takes apart their lnes without paying attention. :embarrased:

"hey sean this is incorrect and sound like it will fail.. First STEP is you remove the ring from the fls safety line then you put the loop of the FLS line through the little white loop on your Flying Line, then loop the FLS line back through its self and then through the Aluminum block down through the bar and chicken loop then put the ring back in the lower loop of the FLS safety line and you are done should take less then 5 minutes to fix..please feel free to shoot me any further questions thanks Ted B"
