We intrupt this program for an important message

1oldkid - 13-5-2015 at 05:31 PM

Now that I am retired, instead of working farmers hours, I just might be able to hit a day when there is "perfect" wind that suits these kites.

After careful consideration, I have decided to keep them.

Is there really such a thing as "perfect" wind?
From some of the posts I've seen from this years JIBE-ees, yes, there is! ( Mebe I just need to pay Jeckyl Island a visit, hmmm.....) And I got my eye on WA/OR beaches too!

So I have decided to keep them and learn to fly the hell out of them! :frog:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program....

Bump for the OldKid

He has added prices now and I think they are very good deals. $650 for a 19m SA is a giveaway price.

Oldkid, I helped you out on how to reply on u2u. Can you help me figure out how to post pictures? :)

1oldkid - 17-5-2015 at 04:12 PM

Edited to add:
Wifey had me out in the yard all day doing huny-do's...so my brain is a bit fried...

Be glad to help if I can!

I upload to photobucket, and then edit the photo size (if need be) and then copy the link into the post. You can do that when you are in the editor page, it's the bottom link at the right of the page. You click on it and it will flash "copied" and then you go back to your post and paste it there. You should see the picture when you preview your post...
Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll try to explain another way...

Thanks for the bump!;)

You must get to JIBE

Good on you for keeping them! I was sorely tempted by your SA, though IDK if I would have the stones to use it! I watched a guy snow kiting one in a squall, and he boosted so high I lost him in the snow! He said he couldn't see the ground 'til he was only 6 feet up, but he nailed the landing, and just kept going. Youth wasn't wasted on him! Have you tried snow kiting?

I would love to!
I lived in New Jersey many moons ago, I wish I had known about these kites and buggies back then, might have kept me from getting into trouble!

Thanks,
When I talked with John (PZ) years ago when I bought the SA, he gave me great advice about not using that kite in winds over 7ish mph. All these years and I have respected that advice...prolly saved me from injury a time or two!
I bought it to snowkite with, and the one time I felt the wind was light enough was at Fairfield, and I was pretty nervous about the size. Turned out the wind died off when I got there. SO didn't get to ski that day.

I have had the Montana on snow up in the hills south of here, and had a really fun time with it. Frostbit my toes, so have had to be careful about cold weather since...
I live several hours drive north of Skyline UT, and have seen some footage of snowkiting there. Way cool!
I don't think (actually I'm sure) I have stones big enough or expertise to fly the SA in much wind...That's where the learning will come in now that I have some time.
