Hi everyone,

Im ready to gear up again. After almost 2 years no kiting.
And I miss every part of it.

So I am looking for Peter Lynn kites.
In the past I jumped around under Phantoms, Scorpions, Venom1 and Venom2 sets.

I was and am a big fan of the Venom2 and Phantom1 but for now I am very open minded. I need them RTF.
I can replace the lines but like the original bars with the kites.

Anyone whovis interested to sell, feel free to contact me.
Please describe the kite. Just be honest about repairs and rips and if the repair is made on the inside of the kite or on the outside.

Im also open minded about the price range, but I do know value.

Help a guy out to get started again and make thise bloke feel the wind from behind again.

I live in Cocoa Beach.

Are you still in the market for PL twinskins? I may have a near new PL 4M Hornet that I would sell (flown 4 times on grass). This is the newest model. Absolutely nothing wrong with it; I've just gone in a different direction with some NASA Star 3s single skins and have a duplication in size in my quiver as a result. I have some good offers on kites. But I am also hessitating a little.
My first choice of kites is still, in random order, most suitable for the winds here...

Phantom1-15 (because they deserve to be in the air,)
Venom2-16 (easy launch and stability)
Synergy 15 (for the good reviews and how people tend to rever them as the step up from the Venom2)

I considered the charger 1 (more twitchy) and 2 but the price to buy them is higher. Well lads, the ones with a wife and kids know that they need heaps out of the pay check too. :smilegrin:
So I would like to save some money for a smaller kite (10m) just incase the wind picks up or I want some fun and easy static flying time during high tide and therefore aim at older models of the pl arcs.

I have offers of other arcs, but like I said. I hessitate because i feel the above kites match my riding better and exept for the synergy, i have plenty experience with the rest.

Need them rtf and have some money to spend straight up. So im set up for business and i am really ready to kite and ride.

So if anyone has one of the above kites gathering too much dust, U2U me with the details of the kite. (Like repairs, or wear on the kite, spars, zippers)

Hi guys and girls,

After some weeks of brainstorming (my brains just work slow due to the heat) I have bought a second hand Synergy 15 to start my quiver with. And its on its way. Expected arrival is Wednesday.
So I am very excited and think I made the right choice for a kite.
Plus, it comes RTF.

Thumbs up for Eric who sold it to me and was very nice in every conversion we had.

Usually when I buy a kite, there is no wind for daaaays. I have my fingers crossed this time it might be different.

In the meantime I will fix my grabhandle on my board. I wan to place it a bit out the center. Up higher between my feet. Put some air in the tires and try to keep my excitement and patience in balance.

One word left..

YEEHAAA.

PS. I want to say thanks to everyone offering me one of them kites. I had a hard time choosing one and you all where very kind. But in the end I think the Synergy is the ob that is going to fit my style of riding best.

That is the sweet spot in the Syn size range. Put the effort into learning to fly it well and it will be a sick kite for anything. Good buy!

I agree with Chris,

I like my 15m Synergy a lot. It took a short while to really feel " as one" with it but now it is the kite I feel most connected to.

It is hard to put into words but it feels like if I ask the kite to make a big move there is this 1/2 second delay that says " you have chosen a dangerous move. Go forward ? Go back ? " . Being older and slightly wimpy my adult brain sometimes choses the " go back " option.

I don't seem to get as much chance to cancel with the 18m Phantom and am a bit chicken to jump in the winds that the 10m Syn' wants.

I get a navigator bar with it so if I want I can change the size of the bar so to speak to make the turns a bit slower by choosing the (shorter) setup.

So that feels like a big bonus option and will depend on how fast the kite feels compared to V2 16 or Scorp16 I had in the past.

One thing I really look forward to is the turning speed. The last years before I quoted flying, (AFTER the scorpion) I flew a Speed dlx 15. And how much I loved that kite for the low wind and out of the bag starting possibilities, coming from arcs the turning speed of that kite felt slow.

The playfulness of the arcs itself is what I look out for.
Also meaning for high winds I'm going to keep looking for a phantom 12 and low winds might get me a Nasastar3 big size short lines.
I can see myself with a nasastar and a big 10ft foam surfboard goofing around in the ocean. Haha..actually looking out for that too. Turning the surfboard into a water buggy.

Good offer on 15 syn. Rtf made me choose different. Saves me a bit more cash to expand my quiver and I can search Kite only. A lot of kites are offered without a bar.
It was a hard choice though. I put my thoughts into it.

I'm the Eric that sold it. You're welcome and I hope it is everything that I said it was. However, I want to post this here because I just realized that I forgot to tell you that it has the VPC modification that removes the pulley. I completely forgot about it because I never fly the kite and it was already modified from the guy I bought it from in Germany. I'm a stand up guy and I am really sorry I did not tell you that before I sold it. If there are any issues with this, or anything else I will gladly pay for return shipping and give you your money back. I looked around for info on the modification but I cannot find any.

Can anyone else fill him in on the modification and what it does?

Haha Eric, don't worry bout me shipping it back. I know my way around with larkhead knots. I took a look at the pics and I just see it myself.

The vpc basically exists out two lines. The main powerline and the steering lines attached to the back of the kite. That line runs through the pull and is attached to the powerline. And before it runs through the pulley it has some knots where a short line is attached for hooking the kite up.

Its not complicated. All I need is the right measurement for this bridle system or see if can get one ready from a dealer.

I will make a post regarding the measurements and maybe you can post a picture of the current setup over there.

The mx5alan has no information on the synergy. That site stopped after the Scorpion.

Yes please. That is more thsn welcome. The port of Cape Canaveral is about 2 moles away so i should be able to get rope or lines there.

What ive seen is that the vpc system uses one pulley, so it cant be complicated.
But i can be wrong.

Got myself a project here and am curious about the differences in flying behaviour on both setups in different winds.

Here you go buddy, a photo with some measurements:




Basically it's 2 lengths of thick bridle (one from A -> B and a long one from B -> G), plus 2 pigtails (B -> C and E -> F).

Note that the connection of the 3 bits at point B are all loops. The pigtail loop is passed over the 2 bridles and then the end goes through loops and pulled tight.

I didn't measure how far down the edge the pulley is sewn into the webbing but hopefully you can still see the sewing on your kite or even better still have the webbing attachment. If not let me know and I'll get the kite out again to measure it.

The 5 knots along the bottom part are there so you vary the amount of VPC and so change the bar pressure and power. I've only ever flown mine on the middle knot so don't know what it feels like on different settings.

At Futahaguro...Vpc set was delivered. ot was in the little plastic bag with the sandbag and all that. No worries Futahaguro. It was great buying a kite from you. Thumbs up

At Robinson pr. Thanks for the measurement. I see there is a little line difference in B..C and E..F.
This helps me out attaching the vpc the right way.

Ah, that E..F measurement is probably a bit misleading. The E..F pigtail has a tiny little extension on it, the "kook proof" system that makes it impossible to attach the rear lines to the front and vice versa.

What I've done is attach that extra little kook proof bit to the kite bridle rather than the rear flying line, reason being I use the same bar and lines to fly an older Venom that doesn't have the kook proof pigtails on the kite. So without the kook proof attachment B..C and E..F would be the same.

It makes sense, but i noticed a little difference, about that 3cm, in the little line attachments. So to be sure i put the little ones at the trailing edge and the longer lines on the leading edge.
Putting on the vpc was real simple so if it turns out the steering lines are to tight..i can swap them around.

But i got a feeling the adjustments can be made anywhere so i have no doubts this will rock my boat. Yet one of them Floridian thunders. See when it ends and if there is time left today to give the kite a test flight.

I haven't measured it yet but the bar could be a 60cm. Feeling wise the bar seems pretty long and I noticed the lines are attached to the inner attachement points of the Navigator bar.

First impression of the kite is that plenty of hours are still in the kite. Not to much of color fading and wear on the lines. It looks pretty good to be honest.

So vpc is set up. Waiting for the weather now. Or dinner. What ever omes first.

I fly mine with a large navigator bar with the lines on the outside attachment points. That's 65cm between the attachment points. And the kite seems to like it :)
