PL Charger2 12 and 15 windranges

Hi fellow kiters,

I can use some advise. I have a good offer on the Charger2 in sizes 12 and 15.
I can afford one kite for now. So this is going to be a it of a personal feeling. But I am looking for the wind range of these kites. I checked the websites, but I am looking for the sweet spot. Because seeing the wind range on these kites I feel the 12 might cover higher winds, but will start to shine too late, where the 15 shines earlier, but I feel with a 15 I might need to skip on more kite time.

I am experienced, but still...

What I like in a kite.
Big kites
I avoid the wind where the sand starts to fly over the beach.
And I like to kite as often as possible.
Jumping

I am looking for your experiences with these kites. What are the kites sweet spots for KLB.

the 15 !...definitely will get you earlier powered riding. matches well the power and same range, feel of VI/II 13m, but far more nimble.

this would be land board 10-15mph esp. if you are >180#

the 12 would work, but a little under powered and snatchy in same wind... for the water would take considerable wind like 20knts


if you wanted/liked a 13m VII, then the 15m charger would be very close, a fraction more power,
i had a 12m charger used once or twice never had juice or pop til 25mph breeze(for water)... i would have never thought to use it for ATB

used the 15m about 300+hours water and ATB ...the CH2 very nice improvement , rode flyguy0101's 15m at JIBE on the water

147 # ....hmm, well then you have more options, but still the 15m, in less than 15, is gonna fire and give solid lift at LESS speed , where as the 12m you will have to run it faster to get same boost ...and if your on same kinda beach as i am, most of the time you do not have room or good point of sail to run super high speed for boosting.

15 matches breeze and boost you want , the 12m will be close and work, but the 15 will be deeply satisfying EVERYDAY!

Good point. I hadn't thought of it that way but it's probably a good thing that my kiting is tempered by the schedules of the areas I use.

I'm with phree on this one go 15m, but at 147lb you will be lit in anything over 20- advantage is landings will be soft :) my 15m replaced my 13m v2 and it has the same projected area but is much faster and will fly well in less wind (its an arc still likes 8-10 and up) I am a member of the Clydesdale kiters (+200) and this is my go to kite love it

Since you board I would suggest the 15m. However the ch2 definitely has grunt and I consider the 12m a one kite quiver for beach flying in Florida. I speak from a buggy perspective of course, so the 15m is the kite for landboarding. That said you are lightweight and I'd guess the 12m could serve you well, though summer breezes may leave you wanting more. You'll want the 12m for winter flying!

I learned kiting and KLB on a bumpy grassfield surrounded by buildings. Haha...those where the days if no fear, just try.
The beach is my thing nowadays. No more faceplants because the grass covered up a hole.
