Hello. I am very new to power kiting and have a HQ Beamer TSR. When I first bought the kite, my boyfriend and I looked at the directions and set the
lines up accordingly. The kite seemed to go up just fine. Then I had some issues with tangled lines and had to disconnect the lines. I got the lines
untangled and set the lines up again but I must be doing something wrong because the kite won't go up.
My boyfriend took a look at it and said my break lines were too short. There were about 4 small knots in the break lines that were really hard to get
out so I left them. I hadn't cut or altered the lines in any way so when he told me the break lines were too short, I was really surprised. He said
the knots were the problem.
I know there's something wrong with my settings or lines but would 4 small knots really make all the difference? I got those knots untied and might go
try and fly the kite again. He told me he would try to add some para cord to the bridle lines and make those longer and see how it goes. This kite
flew fine before without me doing that.
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice because this kite is becoming a huge source of frustration for me and everyone is telling me to sell it,
but I really want to learn to fly and am going to take it out after I get done with this post. I think I'll try hooking it up now that the knots are

Check to make sure there aren't any twists or tangles in the bridles. Also, make sure your brake lines are slack to start with and see if it flies.
The knots on the brake bridles are there to tune the kite. You can attach the brake lines to different knots to decrease or increase brake line
tension.

What exactly happened when you tried to launch it post line sorting? Did the kite even try to get off the ground or did it just sort of "bounce
around". If the kite flew fine before you disconnected the lines and now it doesn't, and reacts like the brake lines are too short my first thougt is
the brake and flying lines are simply connected backwards. Its a simple kite and tough as nails. There's very little that can really go wrong with

Depending how much slack you have in the brakes you might want to use kite killers.
Kite killers are for handles. Your safety will be attached to the 3rd line. I think you can connect the other side to your harness or wrist.
If the knots are NOT the factory knots on your brake lines then YES they are an issue. The factory knots should be on the leader and not the actual
brake line. There is more length taken up by a knot than you may imagine. The knot itself will create a weak point. You can hit hard on the 3rd line
when going to safety. I broke mine on my 3m trainer. Scary experience but not exactly dangerous.
As others mention, your brake should hang a just a little loose when flying at zenith on the bar. Too loose and it won't work when you need it.
Work the knots out in warm water with tweezers and a stitch picker.
