PTW Superbug II

I'm sad. :(

My friend Glen aka Turks text me this evening to say that he is thinking of selling his Superbug II.

Not long after he received it he had a terrible accident where he nearly lost his lower leg. He had to be airlifted off the beach. I held him while we waited forty long minutes while the helicopter battled 30mph headwinds, his leg hanging on by a thread.

He wasn't riding the bug at the time of the accident but had parked up, climbed out to fetch a wrench to tighten a loose bolt while still flying his kite when the accident happened.

From that day on he never really regained his confidence and five years on the Superbug still remains in his garage unused.

Here is my video of him on his very first outing with it in April 2010.

Sorry to hear about your friend having such a bad accident.
I can imagine an injury that severe would certainly give reason to re-think priorities.
I would hazard to guess that most folks here have had close calls at one time and might agree this sport does have the potential for a participant to, at times, run the risk of personal injury if focus is distracted for even an instant.

Looked like he was really enjoying that beast of a bug too!

Seems like the end of an era. I always hoped that he'd one day get back into the superbug. He is keeping his old PL bug so there is still a chance he will join me in the park sometime but I can't help feel sad.
It was seeing the superbug in the flesh that made me buy the dominator. We rode these two monster bugs side by side. Good times.

Sad to hear. I hope the recovery went as well as could be expected.

Cheers John. He'd appreciate that. He made a great recovery.

I can understand not getting back in the saddle, hope he is well mentally. Physical healing is hard enough without the mental aspect.
A moment in time can greatly change the rest of ones life, sometimes for the worst. I hope the change is for the best.
