Howdy everybody. I've got a question about the hardware for mounting an mbs brake plate onto twistar hubs. What dimensions are the bolts that are used
for the twistar hubs? I have a set of brake plates that have only the 3 hole setup pre drilled. Any and all info on drilling a 5 hole setup and what
hardware to use would be awesome. Thank you PKFers. Much appreciated. indigo_wolf - 29-7-2015 at 02:34 AM
Where did you get the brake rotors from?
There should already be two sets of holes in the rotor.
The inner 3 holes are M6 screws for mounting the rotor on MBS TriSpoke hubs.
The outer 5 holes are M4 screws for mounting the rotor on Rock Star or Twistar Hubs.
Don't know what the lengths are, as it's not listed on any of the MBS documentation and I don't have any around. A quick call to MBS would get you
the lengths.
Do you already have the appropriate spacers to place between the hub and brake rotor?
Kind of curious why your brake rotor only has mounting holes. It would have to be truly ancient.
If you have to drill a full set of mounting holes, alignment is going to be a bit of a pain.
In the best of all possible works, you would have a hammer & punch (to mark your holes), drill press, moveable vice, cutting oil, selection of
drill bits, countersink bit.
Do a YouTube search on drilling metal.
Here's one, but there are many others.

Thank you Sam. I to the brake system from Serge. They were off of boards used for a kiting school. Think the brakes were from an earlier model, maybe
a v3 brake or something. The info u posted was very helpful. I'm using a rotor plate from a the mbs v5 overlapping the rotors and marking the 5 hole
mounting spots. The rotors that i have are shaped in a way that the inner circle is actually not round but cut so that the area on the rotors where
the mounting hardware sit are pronounced and the area in between where the bolts sit are cut back. I think I have what I need now in order to make
them work. And yes I have the spacers and all other parts besides 5 holes and brake cable. Thank you again Sam for the info. indigo_wolf - 4-8-2015 at 10:10 AM
No problem.... post back with updates and final results when you get a chance. Would be interesting in how things turn out.
