naldo - 30-7-2015 at 06:54 PM

Hey guys I hope you can help me decided on handle bars. Im flying a Peter Lynn Twister II r., this kite gets a lots of power to hold on my arms so Im looking to make it easier on me. Im thinking about Peter Lynn Crossover bar or Ozone Turbo Bar., What you guys think? any suggestion on which one would fly better with my kite, and I place I could buy it. thank you very much

I don't know anything helpful for bar options, but I can say strop on the handles can help with being able to kite longer

To be clear...

Are you flying with two handles now?

The way to get the that full power off your arms is to wear and hook in to a harness. The weight then pulls on your waist while your hands then simply steer the kite.

So you need a harness.

You need a harness to use the Crossover Bar....but....you don't need a Crossover bar to use a harness. You can use a harness using two handles with a stop line( a thick length of line connecting handles which you use to 'hooS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K- in to harness).

So you may first want to try flying w/harness and strop lined handles before purchasing bar and save additional cost of the bar.

The bar is a different option and will have a safety release.

Thanks guys for responding., I have a harness and I use it for kitesurfing when i go in the water, I just have a soft spot for flying kite on the sand enjoying the breeze, I tried to hook my kite on the hook but still not easy on my arms, not easy to control it either, to fly a kite when the winds get to strong., Im san Francisco CA., a lots of winds here, thank you again !! stay flying :)

PL Cross-over bar is basically the same as the Ozone turbo bar, not sure if the Turbo is still available.
The Cross-over bar (and Turbo) do give fixed bridle kites 'sort of' a depower feel, but it's not 'real' depower, these bars allow you to change the angle of attack which results in more or less power out of the wing and adds a bit to the windrange you can fly your kite in, but it is in no way comparable to a depower kite.
Depowers are always bigger for the same winds as a FB, and they're generally (a lot) more expensive

If you hooked in your handles on your harness and it was still hard on the arms and difficult to control the kite... Sounds wrong.

Note; harness line is connected to the top of the handles.
Also, the length of the strop/harnessline makes a difference, we sell them in various lengths.
But it's cheaper to get a strong piece of rope from any watersports store and use that to determine your preffered length / what works for you.

I haven't flown kites off of handles in a while and rarely used a strop when I did, but when I did attach my strop it was a to the other end of the handles than you show in the video. I always thought that the short part of the bar above the bend went on TOP. In the video the strop was attached to the long end of the handles, which to me are the BOTTOMS. :puzzled:

Use the search function here for similar topics on the Twister. I could be wrong, but I believe the general consensus is that is doesn't behave well on a bar.

Personally I always advise against bars on Fixed Bridle foils because any 4-line FB is gutted in terms of performance, control and steerability when one puts it on a bar.
(with the exception of the cross-overbar, and that's 3 to 4 times the price of any 'standard' 4-line bar)
That said, I do understand why one might want a bar.
Very common is the misconception that adding a bar magically makes the FB a depow..:o., one handed control/flying, a bar is easier (not really) plus a bar seems ''

So yeah, we make bars for FB's

@Windstruck, not sure which (graphic) version of handles you have, but if memory serves; all PL handles (after the Rebble) have the colour indication (red / black) on the topside and the logo on the bottom, hope that makes sense.

The Peter Lynn Crossover bar is great. I did not notice a lack of steering with the kite once adjusted properly for that kite. I have a number of videos featuring the bar.

Just browse through. Some don't label the bar,

best tow are probably below
