Andrew got his driving permit this summer and needs to get his 45 hours of driving with x hrs at night- so I thought a summer trip to Jekyll would
give him 9 hours each way. So off we went! We had 4 days at Jekyll and we were able to ride everyday (although one day was only for about an hour
before the afternoon thunderstorm killed the wind)
So my new personal best- 36.3 mph on my trampa flying my 15m charger 2- winds were 15-17 mph. We were able to get plenty of hang time but no huge
airs, many in the 6 foot range with lots of float.
If you have not been to Jekyll Island to kite, I would strongly recommend it. Parts of the beach were very crowded but on Monday we were able to
complete the full beach run from south water tower all the way to kite beach - given wind from the south further north past kite beach was not
possible and the upwind slog back to the south tower was a slow process.
heres a pic of Andrew airing

Now that's using your noggin' with building the drive into a win-win! Nice that you could spend all that time with your son.
Can you please tell me which app you used to record your 36.3 mph flash (impressive BTW)? I use an iPhone. Thanks! flyguy0101 - 6-8-2015 at 08:05 AM
windstruck- I use motion-x gps- people have said that the apps are not that accurate but it has been my experience that if I can open it up for a
reasonable distance that it is close enough for me. The only time I have had weird readings for speed is if I am doing a lot of short runs and
powerslides in the bug.Windstruck - 6-8-2015 at 08:22 AM
Thanks flyguy0101! I'm an inland buggy rider with to-date 100% of my riding being on comparatively small fields like soccer complexes. Tons of back
and forth, and yes, power slides. I had suspected that all these phone-based gps systems would fall short in such settings, so I appreciate you
supporting that.
I live about 6-7 hours drive from Lake Ivanpah on the CA/NV state line and plan to ride there this November for the first time and then again for
their big Spring buggy bash. Maybe I'll load this app then, but I think I'll save my 0.99 C for now (wow, am I cheap!).PHREERIDER - 6-8-2015 at 01:31 PM
