Lightning - bad, bad. I heard, kite lines conduct electricity. And being one of the tallest things out there, it's a good lightning attractor too...

That's impressive. I've never had a kite dream. :D Seriously - good for you and her! If she knows (or wants to learn) how to sew you could really get her going down the path to the dark side.

Very cool. Looking for something to do on a windy day with my family was how it started for me.

Super story abkayak! :thumbup::thumbup:

Years ago I had a Prism P-3 set up on two lines going to those padded loops that you wear sort of like ski pole straps. I had my son using it and he got dragged across quite a bit of grass on his belly! We had a good laugh about it (laughing with, not at). Closest I ever got to introducing a family member to power kiting. Hope springs eternal; someday I'll spread the love as you were able to do. Congratulations! :cool:

I have to admit I've had a kite dream or two..... :P

Cool man, when you see lightening it is a definitive point that indicates without any doubt you have reached an ALL STOP situation, hope same was conveyed to the niece.

skimtwashington - 11-9-2015 at 05:25 AM

Some don't stop playing just 'cause there's lightning..

How old is your niece?

Need more women in this sport... hope she gets hooked.

abkayak - 11-9-2015 at 06:07 AM

i watched Soundgarden/Blind Melon go at it @ Jones Beach 2le yrs ago w/ the same light show
you just gotta stop when the lightning gets close...or overhead
niece is 27 and shes hooked...dont forget im an old man...id bring her to WW but i dont think i can trust you guys

skimtwashington - 11-9-2015 at 06:42 AM

She'd be much safer at WW, than say.... at Woodstock. Keeps her away from the acid Shannon here was on..

Hope you guys will buggy together soon on you Long I. turf.

I hope to winter kite skate w friends kids(adopted niece and nephew-15 and 13 yrs old ..) in coming Winters. They are great skiers. Their interest in kiting is unknown yet..
