Weather station read 20kph and we went out with the 5m Apex 3. Up on the plateau it was definitely quite a bit more, but felt pretty safe. I launched
and demoed the kite and bar for her. Hot launched it, tried to do a little boosting to see how lifty the Apex is (it's not, unless you antagonize it)
and got about 3' off the ground. Nice kite for a beginner, feels very safe.
Well time for her to fly, we did a proper 2-man launch and she got it up to the apex and worked it back and forth a bit to get used to the controls.
She weighs 100lb to my 150 so it was quite a bit more kite for her, but she held it down fine.
Brought it down to take a break and on the second launch had some fun. A bit of questionable steering later, the kite drifted downwind and she ended
up hanging on to a full power hot launch. She goes running/scudding past me with the kite low in the power zone and the bar pulled all the way in! :o
I'm yelling just to drop the bar. Bar is dropped, kite depowers and gently crashes, everyone is OK.
To her credit she didn't get pulled off her feet and laughed it off, though we decided to quit for the day. She's excited to try again when the wind
is not so strong! We're going to go fly stunt kites instead this afternoon.
Just me quietly flying the Apex, lovely day for a fly

Love it! Unfortunately the only person excited about kiting in my immediate family is still a little small:
I'll give him one more year, then I expect full participation

Haha, he's so cute in his helmet. We've got a little one as well, but she's only 1 1/2 yrs old. Hard to bring her along kiting, she could ride in the
backpack sling but I feel there's too great a risk of being squashed in any accident.
We're considering pulling her behind my wife in one of those little sleds. She's going to be taking it fairly easy so that might work out.

rectifier, that's great! Love to see whole families getting into it. Hopefully we'll see more of that in the future.
I was pulling my boy (he's three) in a sled this last winter - he was giggling the whole time. Loved it. Key with kids is to go slow and stop early
so they want to come back for more.
Yes - definitely keep us posted on your family's progress! great to see.
