HQ Prodigy 10.5

^^FlyinHighAgain^^ - 8-11-2015 at 04:46 PM

I recently got a new HQ Prodigy 10.5 with lines, handles, and kite killers.
Has anyone had any experience with this kite?
I haven't seen alot about it on the net or many videos.

Flying it static i've found it flies best in 8-10 mph wind anything more an it's hard to hold on,anything less and it's a fight to keep in the air.
It has plenty of pull and lift! Just not as fun to fly as something smaller.

no experience with that kite but it's a high aspect foil which will have a very narrow wind range. Especially in Indiana wind. I had a 8.5 blade and it was best in the 5-10 mph range, but watch out for those gusts!

Yeah I keep an eye on the wind watching flags, trees etc and use wind alert . I don't fly the 10.5 if the wind is up. I get out my high wind kite.

I have that same kite and had to do some bridle adjustments on it to tune it in. It wanted to hang back too much and would barely launch in factory trim. I tightened up the A and B bridles twice before getting it happy.

BeamerBob this one is the same way I pretty much have to hot launch it just to get it in the air. I know it's not a good idea. I'll have to try the bridle ajustments it also needs brake adjustment too.

I wonder if that issue has been addressed as in IMHO, a kite should fly correctly straight out of the bag!

Beamerbob - Did you tie a knot in the respective main A and B line or did you to have to tie a knot in each line that connected to those lines? Also, how does that kite compare to a Vapor in terms of speed, stability, and power?

I had to go into the bridle some, but it seems there was a logical depth to go to on the As and Bs. I didn't make the adjustments on the bridle segments attached to the kite. That would be a job.:o:(

That's what I was curious about...Thanks...and I agree, that would be a job!

Here's the video of me static flying it.

That looks like it would be slow and tiring to fly static for any length of time. Jump in a buggy and I think it would be a different kettle of fish entirely.

I definately need a buggy, I really like Popeyes buggies! Around here i'd need a plate on the bottom. Plenty of big fields here but they are rough, what about shocks on a buggy? Bigger tires? No salt flats or beaches here. Any advise on a buggy for rough terrain?

What sort of budget are you considering? If seen photos of buggies with suspensions of sorts and certainly with BigFoot tires, but I would suspect you would have to be prepared to put several thousand dollars down. Stock buggies that would likely not be what you are looking for run upwards of $1000 or so.

Agreed that Popeyes are like staring at buggy porn.
