Kelly i love you....but you mainlanders just dont understand the island mentality
i never go over a bridge unless im being paid to do so...particularly on a day off or it's WW...or a beer release
you should kite Central Park...just so you can say you did..id do that before Floyd Bennett
me im thinking Lido Beach...im guessing the north winds should hit those nice open fields unobstructed
1st off lets hope nobody gets hurt w/ this storm and we actually get some proper conditions
by monday i would like to say....yea, ima snowkiter

windrider1 - 22-1-2016 at 02:20 PM

Central park would be wayyy too gusty with all the buildings. I keep telling u there is a whole world over the bridge, people actually live there. lido beach would be nice for clean wind but far to drive in all the ice. its gonna be a few guys coming out so hopefully its gonna be good. i havnt tried to snowkite in years as I sold all my gear in frustration a few years ago. But I'm giving it a go again this year.:D

All my gear is packed in a car and ready for snowkiting action .... If we get promised 18" I am driving down to Sandy Hook ... can't wait .....

skimtwashington - 22-1-2016 at 05:24 PM

Oh well...nothing much for the new England mountains and farther south into Boston is expected( but perhaps a couple inches).

At least I got out on the first safe ice to kite yesterday and today with good winds and smooth ice. Fast runs!

I would love to kite ski..but at least ice skates are sooo easy and light to throw around vs ski gear.

As long as warm weather and rain stays away I'm all set.

Good luck to my mid-Atlantic Kite brethren! Have a blast and get some pics and viddy..

Its not tht bad, but heres some good news for u . Tuesday is supposed to have SW winds and with the snow still there its perfect conditions for a beach run on any beach.

Kober - 23-1-2016 at 02:58 PM

I was unable to drive out ..... bbooooo ..... a bit too much snow , Hoping to do morning session .....

abkayak - 23-1-2016 at 04:19 PM

Omg...I've never been stuck in the house w/ nothing to do w/ my family this long in my life.
They hate me...my sons the best, but my wife and daughter may kill me befor the nite is over
We are fighting over the tv, food, laundry, the dogs...
If you don't hear back from me soon call the police
At least my beers understand me

windrider1 - 23-1-2016 at 04:25 PM

hahah, too funny.

soliver - 23-1-2016 at 05:19 PM

We've had about an inch down here in GA ... It's all gone now, but the wind looked killer... All the conditions were right for me to have had a pretty awesome snow buggy sesh, but alas... I'm right in the middle of a home renovation, so it's a no-go for me... I did spend all day in the shop building cabinets tho.

ssayre - 24-1-2016 at 06:31 AM

That was one nasty looking winter storm from reading the news.

ssayre - 24-1-2016 at 06:37 AM

I'll bet the only thing left at the grocery stores were cherry flavored pop tarts.

soliver - 24-1-2016 at 10:35 AM

Apparently here in GA, the threat of snow makes people crave milk sandwiches... I went to the grocery store for our usual stuff on the way home Friday afternoon and they were almost out of bread and milk... Its as if those are the only 2 things one needs in the house when you're snowed in.

While u were shoveling snow

Nice one. What size speed? Also, how was your board set up? It looks like you can just step in and out.

gemini6kl - 25-1-2016 at 02:42 PM

Yes started on the 10m speed 4 but within 20 mins the wind went lower and then took out the 15m speed lotus which lasted another 15 mins before wind was even too low for that., hopefully ill get more wind later this week. YEs I removed the back part of the bindings I hated the fact that when I fell I could not get out of the board quickly. Its much easier that way .

ssayre - 25-1-2016 at 03:00 PM

had i thought of that, I would have bought a snowboard instead of ski boots and snow blades

I would much rather snowboard with regular boots.

gemini6kl - 25-1-2016 at 04:12 PM

I ride a landboard and after trying to snowboard a few years ago I hated that every time I fell it was so difficult to get up. then I had an idea why cant a snowboard be like a landboard so then I just took it apart and it works just great so far. If u landbaord or kitesurf its more familiar to use a snowboard than skis.
