pl buggy question

ssayre - 2-2-2016 at 07:09 PM

I do not remember this question covered in the last few years. Something I've always been curious about regarding pl buggies. I've noticed older pl buggies have a pl badge on the front of the downtube. I bought mine 2 years ago brand new and it does not have a badge and it's made in China. Does the badge mean it was made in NZ or somewhere other than the late models? And if the older ones were made elsewhere, are they better or stronger in any way? In other words, I've always been curious if the badged pl xr / standard is stronger than a modern pl xr / standard.

I haven't had any trouble out of my pl but just curious.

Way to keep the spirit alive Abkayak! I saw them in concert 3 times in college around 1979-1980, the best being an outdoor show in Maine in 1979. I have a 21 year old son who still thinks The Dead is one of the all time best bands ever. "His" car (I bought) is an aging Suburu Forester and this very sticker is proudly stuck to the back.

I have really been pleased with mine as well. I'm 5'9 and it's always been comfortable and never had any trouble. I have always suspected the buggys with the badge were made by another manufacturer (possible NZ??) I don't know. I like the badge though, it reminds me of my old schwin days when they were real ones.
