Power Kite Forum

greetings from WolfWolfee

I haven't been active on this forum for years yet still get pm's once in awhile. Seems like a lot of fighting still going on and very sad to see. Loved my kiting days but the politics drove me away. Still really hate some brands that others love but that's just the way it is. So, try and get along and don't believe the rhetoric and just get out and fly.

We all get along but this is a forum and people believe they can say anything they want and be part of your for sale listings.

Several people believe that they have a responsibility to our community to be a safety moderator and protect fresh, young and old kiters from loss of life and limb. Part of the "nanny state".

Free speech is not always free. You can't yell fire in a crowded theater but you can here in the for sale forum. Might as well take a shot also.

We all love to power kite and buggy just some don't have, class or good manors and have a poison pen.

Most all topic areas here work as designed except the for sale classified. It needs some rules to make it better.

Welcome back. When in the states, South Carolina, come by for a fly.

So if I understand correctly, your saying more rules, moderation, regulation would be less like a nanny state? I'm not sure I'm on board with that line of thinking.

Also, you've made your dismay for the forum for sale section very public. I still have no idea what specific far sale ad or ads you are referring to. That's ok, but I would also like to point out my opinion on the for sale section and make it public.

If it were not for this forum and it's for sale section, there is no possible way I would have been able to enjoy this hobby to the extent that I have. Your closer to the coast than myself and may have other means and connections of getting kites and advice. This forum and for sale section is virtually the only means I have for making educated decisions and being able to afford different kites and have some peace of mind that I can sell them eventually. I for one, thank this forum and it's moderators for the fun and comradery this forum provides.

Thank you PKF

Rules, moderation and regulation are functions of the administrator and not or should not be administered by those that believe they have that power.

The administrators are not interested in the issues of for sale items, they just provide a forum, with their RULES that we must follow in order to be part of. They are not a "Nanny State".

I guess the best concept that many use here is... "It takes a village". Normally a failed ideal, so is
a 'Nanny State". I don't need someone on my shoulders telling me which way to turn and how I should live, dress, eat, raise my kids, or have fun.

I believe in self sufficiency and only ask questions once I get to a wall I can't get over. I seek who I believe is the best informed to help. Then and only then, issue solved, I move forward. On my own. I don't need a nanny!

There are several discussion areas that can be used for the praise or "it sucks" commentary. How about using "Kites and Gear" or "Kite Reviews" and "Buggy Reviews", even "General Chit Chat".

It appears that several folks do not properly use all the forum areas the Administrators have, in their wisdom, structured PKF.

Manors, Manors, Manors, Respect, Respect Respect.

I have to agree, this is bad timing on your part. I for one am delighted that you've checked back in for a peek. Love your Username btw. Seems there are two negative things floating right now (a rift about handling comments on advertised merchandise) and a few folks hating on Flysurfer Peak single skins. As for the latter, to each his own. As you can see from my signature I have a quiver of Peak-2s and have personally been very satisfied with them for inland buggying. Snowkiting too, but for that I prefer dual skin Ozone kites with re-ride systems.

Hard to put a finger on a percentage, but in the past say 6 months PKF has been 90% positive, 50% funny (sometimes really funny), and 10% or less negative. Ten is probably overstating things.

Hope you hang out a while wolfman.

You say manors. I say manners. ;)

Bladerunner - 5-2-2016 at 11:34 AM

Hey Wolfee,

Great to see you looking back in. You still hold my respect and I'll never forget your tale of handling that big prairie rotor!

The forum remains a great place for us misfits to explore the fringes of power kiting. Single skin kites are now getting better developed and ( a bit of ) respect on here. Kind of replacing the focus on arcs.
Half of the fun of this sport is the people it attracts. It wouldn't be as fun if us misfits all had good MANners! ;)

Bob and others continue to help us with our spelling ! :P

Welcome back. The fights only break out when the wind blows the wrong way.. Stay above it and better yet, avoid the tangles and keep your kite above it too!
Again, welcome back.

Actually, I think it happens when the wind doesn't blow at all (which sucks) and cabin fever starts to set in :o

riffclown - 5-2-2016 at 02:25 PM

I can't argue with that assessment.

WolfWolfee - 6-2-2016 at 08:52 AM

Well we have a Chinook wind this morning, pretty steady 40km winds and +8 temps and lots of snow. Time to chase the wind. Nice to BeamerBob N Blade runner still hanging in. Still flying my Sabre and PL's just old and set in ways. Still hate Fly Surfers just too pricey and to many lines...rofl

PHREERIDER - 6-2-2016 at 09:17 AM
