SkyDog 1.8 meter Powerfoil

So I had an incredible few days at Ivanpah Dry Lake. The wind was blowing 17 mph and gusting 21. This was my first time flying on anything other than sand so I thought I'd put up something small. I've been carrying the 1.8 meter SkyDog Powerfoil across the country for about 6 months I never put it up. I thought this would be a good opportunity.

I'm glad I put pigtails on the bottom line's. It gave me a great deal of control over how the kite performed. I was wrong when I thought this kite was going to be underpowered. This was the only kite I needed all day long. The wind picked up at one point and I had too much power. My top speed was 34.7 mph which was my personal best.

The kite handled extremely well. I only fly fixed bridals and mostly HQ. When I was done buggying and the wind was dying down my wife took the kite from me. My wife flys a 1.4 meter HQ regularly and when she flew the SkyDog she said it was more responsive than her kite. She was really excited to put it through its paces.

Like I said earlier, I flew it with pigtails on the lower lines and adjusted the lines until I liked how it was flying. I do the same on my SkyDog 9.3 and 6.6 meter Powerfoil.
