Looking for suggestions on dyeing a REV SLE kite black.. I need a black sail for a stack project and would like to avoid having to buy a custom one..
Current color scheme is below.
The White center panel is fine (and optional) But I need to get rid of the blue. I also want to be careful to NOT compromise the fabric.. I also
understand this is a one way trip and I want it permanent and colorfast..
I'm also aware of the option of sewing a one piece sail myself and that IS my fallback plan..
Any ideas??WELDNGOD - 31-3-2016 at 04:27 PM
huge black magic marker????? riffclown - 31-3-2016 at 04:35 PM
Well the black kites are going to be stacked with these on top and bottom.
I did think about the black magic marker approach but from my ballooning days, that will not stay colorfast..
Interestingly enough, Dry erase is more colofast on pourus fabric than Sharpie..
If you ever want a celebrity to sign a T-Shirt, use a dry erase..WELDNGOD - 31-3-2016 at 05:00 PM
Man,you are gonna crap when you see the Kokopelli flying a double stack of revs, that I sent to be raffled off at IBX. I'm sure they will post pics. riffclown - 31-3-2016 at 05:14 PM
sounds awesome.. this one will be a four stack to go with my 3 stack..PHREERIDER - 31-3-2016 at 05:18 PM
spray paint worked on some replication , light and controlled, seemed effective. the light neon green was killing my repairs so straight to custom
spray match satin black/flat base then color on top seemed good opaquing. this all is on tube kites where weight really was not an issue and
salavage fun repair stuff. airbrush is wide open. Dayhiker - 31-3-2016 at 07:39 PM
I could buy it from you as it would work in my stack. I have two similar ones already. SHBKFmarkite - 31-3-2016 at 08:09 PM
sent you a u2u - i can email you some pdfs on dying techniques and some options to think about.
It's easier with uncoated nylon, coated you generally need to open up the surface to take the dye and then heat set it - the pdfs will show a good

Makes sense... the Polo Revolutions out of Spain are dye sublimated....
