Free Dirtsurfer for 30 days!

SecondWind - 22-2-2007 at 12:28 PM

Hello all,

Dirtsurfer is offering a great free trial deal for 30 days.

I'm going to try out the new Freestyle version. I'll make sure to post my review here on the forum. I'm guessing that once you try it out, you'll end up buying one

Davinch, you're right. If this offer had been available sooner I would not have waited a whole year to get one! The Freestyle is awesome! Also, in case you didn't know, Dirtsurfer is re-introducing the GP in a 20" and 16" style! The 16"GP should be rip-roarong, carving and racing son og a gun!

Kiteboarder2B - 22-2-2007 at 03:49 PM

Oh yeah. Took the freestyle out today with my ozone 1 meter imp i about 25mph winds and had a blast! You can feel the bumps in the playa surface a little more than the flexi pro, but when making a turn it is SO much easier. Less turn radius+ less amount of time to turn= Less fiddling with the kite while you are turning. Also I was just barely able to powerslide the rear wheel, something I wasnt able to do yet on the flexi pro, but impressive still with only a 1 meter IMP for lift. I think you'll like it a lot DaVinch

Have you jumped with it yet Kiteboarder?

Kiteboarder2B - 22-2-2007 at 04:05 PM

Yes, but not with a kite. Still want my input?

SecondWind - 22-2-2007 at 04:26 PM

I believe ya - I'm definitely going to try one out. I had 20" Roadracer before and I really had fun with it (I was using a 4m & 6.6m Blade at the time)

Kiteboarder2B - 22-2-2007 at 04:39 PM

You'll prolly find as I did, that getting started on the frrestyle or pro donwhill is a little trickier cause it's higher off the ground (skating to start I mean). However, on the playa surface the Freestlye is like a Lincoln Mark VIII compared to the GP (much like a road racer) which felt like a Ford Escort performance wise. the 20" pro downhill was like a Towncar.

As for jumping, even without a kite this applies. The freestyle is a little squirrelier when landing the front tire than the others. I love it though, I totally notice the weight difference

So...who else is going to order one for the 30 day trial? How about you Tridude?

tridude - 23-2-2007 at 01:24 PM

Man that looks tempting.....................I checked their website, the freestyle pro 16 inch weighs 7.3 kg or 17 lbs. With the speed you can produce Im sure you could jump out of the gym on one of these! as usual.................. Are you really going for one Da V?

SecondWind - 23-2-2007 at 01:43 PM

Yup - as soon as the snow melts I'm going to try one out. Can't go wrong - they even pay the postage both ways.

Kiteboarder2B - 23-2-2007 at 02:15 PM

DaVinch is right. And if you order now you can probably have it in time for NABX!

B-Roc - 23-2-2007 at 06:36 PM

That is way too tempting a deal but there's too much snow out here right now and besides, if I get it, I know I'm not going to send it back and if I send it back I know I'm just going to drive myself crazy thinking about how I can get it so I'm going to pass :-(

The prices seem good though. I looked into those a year or so ago and I thought they were listing for somewhere between $600 and $800, I could be wrong but I thought they were a lot more than ATBs when I last looked.

Kiteboarder2B - 23-2-2007 at 09:44 PM

You're right B-roc, they were those prices, but demand has driven up production and desing improvements have driven costs down, and with the re-intro of the GP in a 16"version, if you're considering buying a new mountainboard there's no reason not to try.

On another note, i've talked to a few guys who have ridden them on snow, and in fact the dirtsurfer speed record (83 mph!) was set on the austria on snow

Did anyone take advantage of this offer yet? I'm still waiting for the snow to melt...

tridude - 9-3-2007 at 07:03 AM

I decided to go with the GI Patrol 106. Gotta get the board down before I try a dirtsurfer but maybe oneday! KB, I thought the DS record was set by their CEO? I read his bio and turns out he is from my hometown of Roanoke, Va. His 80 mph descent was down Windy Gap Mountain, which Ive been down on a bike during a triathlon. The climb is hell but the descent is 10 miles down hill tucked!! My cateye maxed at 70 mph so who know how fast I was going. However, doing that on a DS, INSANE!!

SecondWind - 9-3-2007 at 07:30 AM

Way to go Tridude - that's fast on a bike!

Kiteboarder2B - 9-3-2007 at 10:22 AM

Hey Tridude, close, but his bio says he hit 82 kmh which is 51 mph. My goal is to beat Brian soon. So far top speed for me is 40 mph and that's cause I ran out of room. That is booking it on a bike though, thumbs up tri. Welcome to landboarding. Guess I am just weird. I felt I needed a DS first then ATB second. Got a mbs scout (I know it's a jr. model) on loan from a friend (he didn't know it was a jr.) to mess around with and see if I want to go to the DARK SIDE....MWHAHAHAHAH:evil:

Kiteboarder2B - 9-3-2007 at 10:40 AM

oh and have you seen Dirty Harry's latest speed video? It's awesome and there's a part in there where they pass some some guys on bikes and there's nothing they can do but watch, classic!

KB,

I must look closer indeed! Now that you mention it, I was wondering how he went faster on a DS than I did on a Cervelo aero'd out, with Renn carbon rear disk and HED carbon front wheel? Still 80 clicks is insane on a two wheeler with no hand control! Windy Gap is an eight mile descent. I wonder how far up the mountain he went before he started down? Not so much youre weird, Im just a bit cautious whem it comes to boarding on ground. The GI Patrol is a sweet board, not that Ive ridden anything else but as a South Carolina company (Greenville) I read the reviews and thought Id support the home team. So far its been sweet. Still working on the close beam runs but Im getting there! Even managed to get some air using the BIV 4.9 and Bego 400!:D

Kiteboarder2B - 9-3-2007 at 10:50 AM

No air for me yet, or at least with a kite. Not that you can't with a DS, but I'm stll new to the whole wind-power for movement thing. Been flying static for two years now and riding with the wind is so much better. Hoping to build up to jumps soon and learn some hands-on tips at NABX. But in that video above he hits 112 kph which is 69.5 mph and his top speed on that road is 120 kph=74.5mph. About 9 mph short of the DS speed record and he's riding it standing up. The guy in Austria was riding his DS with a skeleton luge mod on the snow! Nuts if you ask me.
