In case it gets ripped from my hand,or I have to ditch. At least it is still within my reach (hopefully).Houses and trees just over the dunes.And ,it also allows me to have the high ground with idiotic dog owners who think leash laws are for everyone else. "My kite is on a leash ,why isn't your dog?".
