Does anyone have a source for the tapered covers that are used to cover the bridal knots on a Nasa Star? I'm trying to reduce the bridal snags that
happen when my NPW kites land wrong or twist. I thought of trying to make them with some shrink wrap. Any thoughts?Windstruck - 13-5-2016 at 10:20 AM
Those are great little things aren't they? At IBX somebody called them "condoms". Pretty funny.
I have had a fair amount of email back and forth with Steffen Born himself over the past year or so. He's very pleasant and responsive to deal with.
It might be worth a shot to see if he wants to sell a batch to you. From your note above I would assume you own his kites, something you could
certainly mention.

The knot sleeves are sewn into the 3 lines not the kite, you are right Sean. If you made your own NPW, I imagine it wouldn't be terribly difficult to

Doh! Of course you guys are right. My bad. I didn't have a kite in front of me and got it backwards in my mind. Thanks for setting me straight.
If the bridals had the condoms then they'd be "against the wind" and probably not sit still in the long run.

I have experimented with shrink wrap for my home tied linesets. I used the stuff readily available at HD & Lowes. It did not go well as I was
worried about applying too much heat and melting the line so I did not get a tight "shrink" and the covers slip off.
