KONE event at Nahant was With power kites stunt kites and single lines.
Wind did a 180 degree turn thru the day from West in morning at only 6-8 mph to full onshore East and wind increase to upper teens.
Slow in morning ..fast in afternoon.
Lots of bikinis....:frog:
Great weather and conditions

Nice Coyote - Peak combo! I've got to say I'm somewhat surprised some town authority hasn't shut you down with your powerkiting around all the folks.
Sort of tight quarters! Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled for you, just a bit puzzled.PHREERIDER - 15-5-2016 at 06:47 AM
slick buggy action !
nice go on the dogs ! for me the brake(on the coyotes) was a hinderance everytime you try to turn it grabs.
looks like you had decent crew to ride with, rock on skimtwashington - 15-5-2016 at 07:10 AM
In the past some of us have been 'shut down' riding during non-events....and kicked off.
The Event was actually sanctioned and INSURED.
Officially, powerkite Buggying or on other wheeled vehicle is banned...... EXCEPT in designated areas. That last part is the grey area of ordinance.
There is no designated area...unless they declare one-permanently or temporarily.
It is almost like a rule that generally isn't enforced(like Amsterdam's marijuana laws-not legal but not enforced and openly sold in shops).
Because some of us have been kicked off in past....we are trying to remove ban officially to prevent such enforcement or arbitrary enforcement.
They are not enforcing the dog/leash law and litter laws...
..and we are doing less harm. So...
The amount of people on the beach that day was somewhat small and scattered compared to a mid-summers day when it is packed on most sections. We do
not ride on those day except in evening after folks go home and beach is open again.
The goal is to self enforce ourselves and not ride when it is too busy.
Don will be removing his Coyote brake. They were new to him that day, and he just wanted to get out on them- as is.

Great looking day..
Self enforcement self controll is the key to access
Always treat your beach like its your beach and things tend to work outBladerunner - 15-5-2016 at 08:31 AM
Who was that on the Coyotes?
He may find that removing the brakes helps?
Looks like a great day! skimtwashington - 15-5-2016 at 09:30 AM
That's Don on Coyotes. Wind was low and he left before wind came way up and ON SHORE(!!).
Don is psyched about having Coyotes. He used to be quite seriously active in rollerblading and has bigtime ski background.
I never bothered to remove my own's brakes and I never accidently have activated it, by it's adjustment setting(?) or the fact of my constant body
position and bend in my knees.
The day was fantastic and built from kind of dissapointing.... to good... to... premium conditions, as wind spun half the compass dial.
THe public(unsuspecting and surprised sunbathers) seemed quite amused by us powerkiters. A few rides were given unlike last year where there were
perhaps dozen and half rides to the public.
I liked the flying whale. When do you see a heavy giant whale flying in the air?

I found that the brakes would apply just a bit as I carved a turn. I didn't fully figure it out for a few sessions.
I thought that was Don. He looks pretty stable on those things! doneski - 15-5-2016 at 05:20 PM
I just got the coyotes that morning and couldn't wait to try them. It's my 3rd pair but I sold my last pair to someone in Hong Kong in 2011. I can't
believe it's been that long. Anyway, the brakes suck. As soon as I started a turn they would engage and I had to do a little dance to make the
turn. I think Brian's brakes are worn smooth or he keeps his feet closer together than me. I'm taking off the brakes before I use them again.
Even with the low wind and grabby brakes they were still a blast. skimtwashington - 15-5-2016 at 06:47 PM
There were apparently a few stragglers that didn't know the kite fest Saturday was over and remained on the beach to fly Sunday.:cool2:
