Landboard competition - I NEED YOUR HELP

AlexBrown - 25-2-2007 at 08:44 AM

Hey everyone.

Whos going to the NABX that landboards then? It would be rad to get loads of people there and have a jam.

Who is interested in a fun short compitition, like last years free ride jam?

Basicly, anyone can enter, we get a designated area one time during the week and a pannel of judges will pick thier favourite rider. Prizes possibly!

Just abit of fun as I said, but its defently worth pushing for a comp if your looking to improve your riding and the sports exposure, especially at the NABX, the Euros love it!

Alex

p.s NOTHING if official, im working with the NABX crew to sort this out but we need your help. :singing:

Dunno if it's been done before, but I know a couple of the locals want to run the race course on the landboards as well, it'd have to be a seperate race to the bugs, but well, they're just a tad bit competitive and want to see how they do in the big picture.

I'm sure we can get a couple events going.

domdino - 25-2-2007 at 11:37 AM

hahaha.
But Alex, it's just not fair if you're competing :( :D

Kiteboarder2B - 25-2-2007 at 02:20 PM

I'll race a go-slo.

Pablo - 25-2-2007 at 05:58 PM

unless you have a sundial, it's really difficult to see if a NPW pilot is going forwards or backwards.....

Pablo - 25-2-2007 at 10:15 PM

Ouch:tumble:

Haha awsome. Why dont we make Butch and Eli ride 2m kite also

So people are game, right?

Im thinking, spend the afternoon one day in a specific area, pannel of judges, throw prizes out if someone does somthing rad. Have a first, second and third place. Would be great for anyone who wants to test landboarding and push themselfs when they might of not had the chance useually :)

Were all here for fun too, it would be great to jam with everyone!

AlexBrown - 7-3-2007 at 05:53 PM

So who wants to give it ago :)

Pablo - 7-3-2007 at 09:03 PM

Depends on if you're planning on having a noob contest as well. On most days I can get back to my kitebag.

Kiteboarder2B - 7-3-2007 at 09:53 PM

I'm in if you're willing to let a noob dirtsurfer in too:frog:

AlexBrown - 8-3-2007 at 05:54 PM

How about an open comp for everyone? Its only for fun. :)

Pablo - 8-3-2007 at 08:11 PM

Well, I'll give it a go, mainly for laughs and such, but sounds like fun. I know there's at least 3 others in our group that'll give the landboard comp a go as well.

AlexBrown - 9-3-2007 at 11:08 AM

sick!

Pablo - 9-3-2007 at 11:19 PM

Please though, I ask all of you to laugh with us, not at us. I've just started with the landboard about a month ago.

AlexBrown - 10-3-2007 at 03:54 AM

Hey man, its fine. I think its rad your ready to give it ago! I wouldnt have after a month, it took me a long time to learn to kite and board.

See you all there, not long! :)

rudeboysaude - 10-3-2007 at 11:43 AM

Alex.

I'm still trying to work it all out to see if I can come. Blake tells me losing my job and wife might be worth the trip to NABX and he's never steered me wrong before! hah. If I make it, I'd love to bring my landboard and participate.

Don't worry Pablo, I suck too. I was getting jumps down and felt cool then I messed up and wrecked my ankle. 2 weeks of rehab and I was ready for more. In this picture you can almost see it snap!

Sounds like fun! If I decide not to lose my job and wife, take lots of pictures so I can live vicariously!

A.

Pablo - 10-3-2007 at 11:52 PM

Nah man, keep the job and wife, teach her how to kite, if she won't kite, teach her to take pics and socialize. Either way, you'll be loaded with a wife ready to come for next year.

Kiteboarder2B - 11-3-2007 at 01:07 AM

I've only just started a montha go to Pablo, so you're not alone:D

rudeboysaude - 11-3-2007 at 02:48 AM

Ohh, she can kite. She's pretty good actually. She's a teacher and really wants to go but she can't take that week off. Actually she's hardcore! Right after this pic she went warp speed and tried to go over a drainage ditch and ended up breaking a rib. I guess she hit so hard her shoe came off! haha.. So if I go, I'll just have to play it down like.. "yeah hunny.. you didn't miss much." ;)

Ironically we went to the ER together. Her with a craked rib, me with a swollen ankle. People must have thought we had a major domestic dispute! NABX sounds like a blast.. can't wait!

jonesing4wind - 12-3-2007 at 05:21 AM

I would be willing, but you two with a month have about 27 more days than I.... but if I can get to where I can get going on it at the pre event, I may be willing to be laughed at and come in last..... LOL!!!!

Seany

AlexBrown - 12-3-2007 at 04:56 PM

The more people having ago the more fun it will be for sure! Im flying into USA tomorrow, not long till NABX!

Kiteboarder2B - 12-3-2007 at 06:35 PM

hey alex, you gonna be on the playa at all before the pre-event? If so, and my job permits (I'm on call during the day and work at a show at night), would mind a meet-up?

Pablo - 12-3-2007 at 07:12 PM

Well, I do have a month on the board, but mostly a month of sitting in the rain trying to fly a soaking wet kite and when it's actually airbourn jumping on the board and riding for 30ft before the kite falls from the sky. So far I've had 2 good sessions to date on the board where I'm nicely powered up on a 5m kite and can easily get back to my gear with dry ground instead of mud under me. Those days have been shared with helping noobies learn to buggy, It's all good though.

I look forwards to some good laughs with some new friends.

Just a reminder:

Before the Pre-event activites on Ivanpah Dry Lake would interfere with the NALSA landsailing regatta.
One of the reasons we developed the Pre-Event to begin with.
To help avoid interference.

Already the landsailers have begun to show up.
Sunday afternoon there were two camps already established.

Please use one of the other dry lakes dotting the region during their event.
Even the west side of Ivanpah (accessed behind Whiskey Pete's) is a good surface with plenty of room.
No permit required.
Camping allowed.
Also Roach (east and west sides of the tracks) and Jean Dry Lakes are open and require no permit.

Weather is looking mighty good for us.

Or... As I've been known to say: "Looks like verga... Nothing to worry about."

Safen Up! Buggy On!
