Minty Flysurfer 6m Peak 1. SOLD

3shot - 1-6-2016 at 06:12 PM

Letting my 6m Peak 1 go..

When I get beach wind, I'm just too dedicated to my fixed bridle kites. This beauty just doesn't get the attention she deserves. It maybe has been flown a dozen times or less, and never seen the beach. Most here know how OCD I am with my kite gear. I have also had many transactions among the PKF family. No leading edge wear. No hinge point wear. No line wear. It's the limited hot pink too . I added a landing strap that is easily removed via larkshead knots.

Flysurfer original RTF. Bar, lines, stuff sack, and owners manual.

$500.00 to your door (Con US). SOLD

U2U please. Thanks!

Why is it that I never have $500 when I need it... Poop

Good luck with the sale of this beauty Jason. I for one will be sad to have you (temporarily) out of the Peak fan boy club. Upon success you will have to update you mood....

Love this kite! I can't stop admiring the picture and I have one lol. Bummed your selling it but good luck with the sale. I'm sure this won't last long.

It is just too nice of a kite to sit in the closet all the time..

You could always donate it to the Spencer-wants-a-Peak Foundation .... Serving the greater Atlanta area of kiters named Spencer.... I'm currently working on our 501C3 status, and you can probably claim it on your taxes... I am the founder and self proclaimed president... I'll send you a name-tag and t-shirt for your donation

6m Peak compared to Phantom 1 6m

markite - 2-6-2016 at 04:57 PM

I know it's a different kite but if you had to give a general comparison to using a 6 m Phantom 1 - any ideas? I have a friend with a burned out 6m Phantom 1 that has been eager to replace it and I suggested perhaps a Peak would work in similar wind range - maybe more range with the Peak? What about speed etc? He's heading off to Fano Denmark shortly to buggy for a week or two and was curious about the Peak as his higher wind go to kite.

Mark - I only have experience with Peak-2s but don't think for what I'm about to say it would make too much difference. Peaks are GREAT basic buggy engines. At IBX a couple of months ago they really became my go-to option. Tons of DP for scrubbing power and speed, easy to launch in light surface wind, and in this 6m size pretty zippy in the sky. Another big thing I like about Peaks is that they are not very "lifty" a really important point IMHO when discussing buggy engines to minimize OBEs.

On this lifty aspect, last week I put my new 12M Ozone Summit up in the air for its maiden voyage and lifted myself about a foot in the air in the buggy. That spooked me and I got it out of the sky and put my 9m P2 up and was instantly more comfortable and more in control. I appreciate that Peaks are sort of intermediate kites while Summits are more advanced flying, but I think I'm going to keep my Summits in their bags when buggying from here on out.

Yes, I'm a Peak guy! :karate:

I've only seen a 6m Phantom 1 in pictures lol.
I'm afraid I can't be much help there but if I had to guess, the 6m Phantom would handle higher wind just from the projected area alone being a 6m arc? However, the Peak would offer way more depower to push the limits with, but not 6m Phantom winds. Just letting the bar out dumps the majority of the kites power. The trailing edge will just flutter like a plastic bag in the wind. The Peaks sit more flat during flight, so you pretty much have a full 6m of projected area when fully powered. Thats why most people compare the 6m Peak 1 to a 8 or 9m foil. However, you can dump so much power, it's like flying a Walmart kite on a bar lol. If he is looking for pure speed, I'd have to say the arc is the way to go. I think Bobby has had his 6m Phantom 2 on the Playa in 40 mph winds. I wouldn't even think of that with a 6m Peak1. A 4m Peak2 maybe, but not a Peak1

I own a 6m peak and I have owned a 13m venom. The 6m peak has the same low end as the 13m venom. I would say 12ish and its powered for successful motion. I've flown the peak up to 25ish and that's my personal limit with it. Beyond that I can have it up but it's survival mode.

Thought a 6m Phanny was about to come up for sale...started to panic I had such mixed emotions

Wifey says too much talking and not enough buying
Sean you know you want a Minty back-up Peak to have in stock at all times..
Steve you need this Peak to see where it all started..
And Spencer.. You don't need to purchase the Peak. I would be more than willing to just trade for cash... :D:D:D

Thought did cross my mind. It would be fantastic to one set up on long line and one set up on short line.

I'm super broke at the moment. Just added another teenage driver and car. Just you and Spencer wait for the driving age. It gets expensive.
