hit my beach last eve and on my 1st run between high and low water marks couple of guys come after me on a couple of quads w/ these ugly faces, screaming they are shooting a commercial and its his beach and yada yada and i have to get out of here....his inflection and attitude did not sit well w/ me so i informed him that actually it was my beach and always will be and if he wanted to think about how he wanted to talk to me i might be willing to listen and even share it w/ him...damn mainlanders just dont know how to act at the beach

If it was "his beach" there would be signs posted a long way off, permits, and probably dedicated security with either badges or at the very least lanyards.

Perhaps he should visit midtown Manhatten to see what a real commercial shoot looks like.

If the person "running the camera" is the only one yelling at you.... he really needs to get the T-Shirt with "Tin God" emblazoned on it..... preferably in a shade of mauve.

in a public situation thats what the film crew has to deal with , YOU are part of the area.

they can ASK first, but unfortunately fear and anger drive a hardened action, but its drama for control sake to supress the fearful and ignorant.

just smile and wave...til ol' stick shows up. generally they never bother unless you are endangering the public in careless actions

my junk has been in commerical/publish products because i'm there! all the time when the light is great and best shots can be produced... i'm sure family beach/wedding/aerial(which look pretty cool) photos are just better with a kite in them.

a public area contains the public.

You should have asked if you can be part of the commercial in the background

Sometimes kites even end up in movies....even if it's for 8 seconds.
