When he lost that handle , it turned up and went , that quick! Could have been a lot worse though.

Saw this in XK too. Were there three guys loaded in that buggy??? I particularly liked how he worked his legs in the air. I wondered if he was going to try and run out the landing. :o

Man, OBEs.... Everything is going just fine right up to the instant that it isn't.

I honestly get nervous about OBEs like this when I'm hauling fast (OK, fast for me!) out on the playa at Ivanpah. I almost OBEd at IBX with my 4m Peak2 up in high winds. I was just cruising along minding my own business and deep in warm, cuddly thoughts when Utahtami came ripping past me in the same direction. As expected, she was going probably twice as fast as I was. She startled me so badly I almost jumped out of my socks. Kite was all over the place and behind me in a micro-second. That was too close for comfort. Not Tami's fault (I love that girl) just me with my head in the clouds!

When I took lessons one catch phrase they dropped was " Keep it Low and Go " !

This really applies to places like Ivanpah. Far better to get sent down wind than straight up! Holding down power and cruising with the kite low is really the way to go!

Another one I heard screamed at me over and over was " kite 1st ". When it all goes bad worry about what your kite is doing 1st. ( and pop your safety if need be ) IT is the thing that will likely get you in further trouble.

Is that one of the reasons I have seen some on PKF call the Ace "The Widowmaker? BTW as a newbie here what is obe? Out of body-buggy experience? Looks like he really pulled hard on the power lines. I know if that happened to me at that speed I might have had a out of bathroom experience.

Not to make light of how dangerous that was and could have ended a fun kite day for that pilot, but his running feet did look flipping funny. :) I wonder if his buddies gave him a new nickname after that flight?

Sage words of advice, Bob, sage words. If I squint just a little bit I think I see more than a little bit of Payton in you. :karate:

Ah... Right you are, thanks Howard. Sage advice nonetheless, even when not coming from a Volunteer (BeamerBob).
