A fool and his body are soon parted. Really makes you wonder why there are so many kite bans out there.

Wonder why people sensationalize idiots and morons?

Kamikuza - 24-6-2016 at 06:41 AM

Meh. Needed some forward rolls.

Posting links like this only serve to hurt our hobby in general..

and ...

Let's avoid posting or reposting any moron's video's on PKF... not just for using kites irresponsibly or recklessly...but for using the 'N" word or any racist on inappropriate language. This is more egregious and offensive than the kiting.

He uses the 'N' word in video ....but then in video title subscript apologizes for using it?... Like he hasn't always or doesn't talk like that all the time. Moron.

BreakingWind - 24-6-2016 at 12:31 PM

I disagree with you. I think many more people are going to see that pinhead on YouTube, then would see it here on PKF. And in contrast the members here can post a response to why that guy should not have been at the controls of a kite, board, and buggy. And pass along their knowledge to others on how to do it right. You can also post a comment for that video on YouTube. I for one have learned a great deal from the flyers here and continue to do so.

Riff, weren't you one of The Jets in West Side Story? :)

B-Roc - 24-6-2016 at 01:56 PM

Wow, that was one of the more dangerous videos posted in a long time. Can't imagine launching a kite like that in winds like that. He was really lucky not to have been seriously injured. If knows how to post a video he knows how to edit audio. If he didn't edit the audio he isn't truly apologetic. One can see and hear who he really is... an idiot.

I've learned a lot here as well. First I've learned a ton about SAFETY from folks like WELDNGOD first hand. I've also seen how a kiter's 15 seconds on TruTV can get a beach or a park closed to kiting. One of my local parks and soccer fields has no Kiting signs up. 3Shot and I went to fly there one day and No Kites was at the top of the list.

Seriously, I've been around here a while and we go through periods where insurance underwriters and unscrupulous types pose as "sports doctors" asking about injuries and taking surveys so they can ban our sport.. posting these sorts of videos saves them time in finding things to use against powerkiting in general...

I've got nothing against you personally but you're just posting links that can only damage the sport in general. Do you really want to be the one that provides everything SF needs in a neat searchable index to ban Kiting at your local park???

Want Proof??

It was only a few years ago that you could buggy on the beaches of SF. Guess the rest of the beaches need a reason to close.
When the beaches in Cali are closed, don't come to Washington. A few of us know everyone on our beaches, would hate to stop you at the border.

For those that don't know...
One life altering accident on the beach during the 7 years of probation and butt kissing of everyone and anyone to change the law to allow wind powered vehicles to operate on a few beaches here would have more than likely kept the law from changing. It was bad enough the local property owners were not on board, bad publicity would have killed it. What some of us endured "me" to keep the ball rolling.
Your welcome!

So forgive those of us that are very great full of the hardwork done by others that have given of their blood sweat and tears to keep you safe and able to play.

windrider1 - 24-6-2016 at 08:41 PM

wow thta guy was in so much danger and dint even know it.

Cerebite - 24-6-2016 at 08:53 PM

I have lost use of my two favorite/ nearest fields because the ranger "thought" she knew what I was doing with my kite and buggy and decided that was dangerous. It is videos like this and the broad scope of the kitebuggy wikipedia entry [seriously] that now has me banned after using the field with no issues [including numerous interactions with rangers and the public] for over eight years.

Really sorry to hear that John. :(

I totally get what your saying Riff, and I never take anything personally unless it gets personal. But isn't it better to fight stupidity and fire with intelligence and fire? These videos are out in the open, in public and need to be addressed by flyers who fly with safety, knowledge, and intelligence. Not just sitting back and hiding from someone or some agency that may have a stick up their a** trying to ban our sport because of stupid people doing stupid things with kites. Stupid people do stupid things with lots of things.

Obviously there are those like myself who are passionate about the kiting sport, then speak up in the face of stupidity, and post comments on YouTube and here to defend the sport and its track record and history of safety.

I still think it is better to confront stupidity and ignorance instead of wishing it away and avoiding it.

Just my 2 cents.

riffclown - 25-6-2016 at 03:12 AM

I agree with you to a point but to further their stupidity by providing free advertising, commentary and additional "hits" only encourages the stupidity behind those videos in the first place. I noticed that at least one of the vids you linked to has it monetized. We're thinking stupid or worse and they're saying ca- ching!!! None of us mind a link to a vid now and then.
There are some great vids, especially if it shows skills like the infinity Deadman's turns or Demonight deadman turns from Jibe etc.. A few of us have even shared pics and scenes from our own adventures. My pics from launching a 2M in 40MPH winds and WGs Buggy Mishap some time back. There's obviously opportunity for review among peers and that's what we all are.. peers.. There are a few pros here and even company representatives. Let all be passionate about our sport without drawing undue attention to those that give the sport a bad name in so many places..

FlyGuyFrank - 25-6-2016 at 03:56 AM

What I'm surprised about is that no one from this board has commented to the video owner voicing their complaints about ruining the sport for responsible kite flyers and urging him to delete the video. How about being proactive and calling this turd of a man-child out and waking him up to the fact that he's a thoughtless, vulgar a-hole?

Apparently he revels in posting videos of his failures, such as the 14 minute video entitled "Mistakes were made dirt biking." tl;dw - but I see a theme here.
