Here's a news story:

Almost looks like he forgot to buckle his leg/chest strap and fell out the bottom. Unless he intentionally unbuckled. Crazy.

Perhaps there was a fire on the paramotor he was trying to escape.

Local news reports that Damien is expected to survive. They do not talk about the extent of his injuries.

Update as of 6 hours ago....

Jupiter paraglider Damien LeRoy expected to recover after crash

Summary:
  1. Failure of steering system is what led to Mr. LeRoy abandoning the paraglider.
  2. He broke a thighbone, fractured his tailbone and parts of his spine and punctured a lung.

I hate stories like this, could have been so much worse. Luck guy.
Sounds like a body cast for a couple months. Makes it so hard to use the bathroom...

Failure of shelf system doesn't make any sense...

Man, a lot of this going around. I hope he makes a speedy and straightforward recovery. Scary stuff.

Tough to watch...

I'm sure others are wondering things like me...

Why did he jump at that point he did..

Could he have waited... killed the motor perhaps and glided in closer to ground...?

Only he knows.

Terrible accident..... but he is indeed lucky. Hope he has a complete recovery
