Hi everyone! I read this forum for a while now and i wanted to introduce myself. I'm from a small town in the Gaspesia peninsula (province of Quebec),
CA. I fly mainly inland but on a medium sized lake during the winter so the winds are a bit more stable there than in the fields during the summer. My
nearest beach is on the St-Lawrence golf but it's a 2hrs drive.
I fly kites for about 10 years, some years more than others...! I mostly use my kites for snowkiting and static flying with some jumps involved when
i'm comfortable with the wind and my kite.
This year, i took the decision to introduce 3 depower kites in my quiver (i've only flown FB before - lack of budget!) so this forum is very useful
for my pre-winter training since DP kites are a new world for me, i got old habits.
i'm kinda impulsive when it's time to buy new kites, i often buy/sell them just to experiment.
Right now, my quiver looks like:
FB:
1.4m flux
2m ace
3m PL hornet
3m single skin home made monster
4m PL Twister
4m Ace II
4m Flux
5.5m PL Twister
DP:
5m Frenzy 2008
8m HQ Apex 5
11m PL Lynx
Thanks all for sharing your experience, it's been very useful for me!

Welcome aboard privatedlc! Nice to have one more enthusiast in the fold. That's an impressive quiver, particularly the home made monster! Can you
post a pic of that one? I'm biased (who isn't?) but I believe you will truly enjoy snowkiting with DP control. From your initial statements it
doesn't sound as if you haven't actually used them yet in the winter. Good for it!

Welcome to the Forum, and bienvenue a la famille.
You'll find lots of answers and support from the good folk here.
There's a great group of kiters in Quebec (Montreal, Que. City, Saguenay region) that would be worth getting to know. In the fall, some of them come
to Wildwood to join us for a few days of buggying before their season on the frozen lakes starts.
For buying and selling, there are often some great deals here, and a new home for every kite. There are also lots of reviewers available; it seems
that almost every brand of kite is flown by someone here.
Fly safe! :wee:
(Yes, I know that "a" should have an accent grave, but this forum doesn't support "foreign" characters.)

Nice to meet you guys!
I just took a couple pictures of the called monster. I must specify that it's been made for me by a kite addict called Martin Deslauriers, i'm not the
actual creator of the kite. When i compare it to my 2m Ace and my 3m Hornet, i think it could be more a 3.5. I'd have liked to put a picture of it
actually flying but i lost the leading edge carbon rod - need to make a new one.
I learnt my bases with this kite, static and on snow. It is very predictable and has only a small amount of lift. From what i remember, it goes upwind
"ok" but needs some effort.
@Windstruck - i've only flown my FB on snow yet, this will be my first winter with my DPs. My plan is to take a couple hours with an instructor in
order to speed up my learning curve a bit.
