Never really posted much on here, but I feel this is definitely worthy of a post.
So I worked a few extra hours this month and decided to treat myself, what initially was going to be spending a couple of hundred pounds or so on a
second hand tornado/libre or similar race style buggy has turned into me spending a bit more than I wanted to spend ....
.... but on Tuesday I'll be the proud new owner of a PTW Cougar 2 (along with a new to me reactor 2.8m) and I'm so excited, I really can't wait. Like
many of us I saw one of his buggies years ago on one of the forums and have dreamt of owning one ever since.
No pics to share yet, but I'll be sure to get some pics and video next week.
Having only ever used my peter lynn xr+ or my friends flexifoil scout it's going to be a mega upgrade, and should help me go past my current pb of
42mph at some point too =)

I got my buggy yesterday and put it use today, I have a lot to learn but this is going to be fun!
It certainly can't come quick enough, going to have a proper play for a couple of days, I've got an old snapped line set that I'm going to use to make
some 10-15m lines to have a play with after chatting to the guy I'm buying it from as well as I've only ever flown 20-30m lines before.
15m lines will be perfect, If you go any shorter you won't like it. The smaller kites are very fast in the window and if you shorten the lines too

My third time out. First time did ok - actually a little better than I expected. Second time out the wind was crazy, so I didn't try. Yesterday, I
didn't think there would be enough wind, but I decided to give it go and it turned out pretty well in the gusts - wind was almost zero in the lulls.
That was actually good because I concentrating on everything that is going on at the same time is taxing and I needed a chance to catch my beath.
Had to bail on one the kite handles twice (right after thinking I'm getting this down). But hey it was the kite or me. Fortunately, no damage was
done. So a fun day and I learned a lot.

What size Nasa 'home brew' were you using, Randy?
Nasa's handle the lulls pretty good....
So what range of sizes you got now?
I got 1.75m, 2.5m, 3.5m and 6.5m's. Wish I had about a 10m for super low wind (sub 5mph)?, but I have been light cruising on blades on ice at probable
6mph w/ the 6.5. Best thing is they all fit in my backpack(ea. RTF). Look at this China custom, Ed Cline!..=]

Skim - I have lots of NPW's (5s, 9s, 21, single keels) of various sizes, including a pink NPW-3 and various other kites. Most are small (<2m) and
more or less experimental. My "real traction kites" for my ATB, longboard and now the buggy are 1.9, 2.5, 3.2 and 4.2 NPW 5-P (which is just an NPW-5
with some extra bridles) and a 5.5 NS2. Seldom have used the biggest one though and figure I will be using the NPW's exclusively while learning the
buggy basics. They are what I'm used to on the ATB and are well suited for that.

Made it out again bright and early yesterday. Started with the 4.2 M and it was interesting. Not really powered up a lot initially but enough to
move pretty well and I had time to really think about what I was doing in turns, going up and downwind etc. As time went on it got quite a bit
stronger (by this time dirt was blowing off the ground) and I went to my 3.2, That was too big also. Went to 2.5 and the wind died. Which seemed
like a good time to quit anyway.
Here is a track of my GPS made from GPS Visualizer. com. Pretty crazy huh? Part of the time I was pulling the buggy back upwind, though when the
wind was strong I usually didn't need to.

Today was pretty windy, so I went small on my kite - only 2.3 M. This single keel is about the simplest NPW there is. Ian helped me by coming up
with a cascade bridle spreadsheet that works with this design. Reported winds were 15-24, but on the ground I think it was less - in some of the
lulls the kite wouldn't even fly. But I was sized for the gusts and had a really good day. My best day yet!
