Build up your expectations only to crush them.....

I send off a few bucks from time to time on startup companies that advertise on kick starter, with great success.
One of those companies was Lily Camera. They advertised a quadcopter that follows you as it films you. Such high hopes and some big names that were involved with the venture.
There wasn't any updates for the last month and no replies to any type of communications. Well they responded last night, "We are sorry to say...."

So sad to see it happen as I try to find the type of payment I used to send the money so I can file for my refund.
After looking at some things last night about the company it was obvious they broke the biggest rule of a new startup, keep it simple stupid.

Now to wait 90 days for my refund, hope it's the full amount and not a percentage.

That's too bad to hear about Lily. It was looking like a real promising platform. Hope you get your money back!

Spending money and time reworking the algorithms for high humidity flight above 20,000 feet while keeping the motor variable below .0899% between all 4 motors, doesn't make any sense. The humidity at 20,000 feet? Seriously? Crap that was the first thing I was going to do with it, make it follow my to the summit is K2. Of course you could always stipulate the camera is not to be used above 20,000 feet.
As for getting my money back, it wouldn't be the first time I was taken advantage of.

They are saying that the refund will be full and automatic in ~60 days or so.

This refund may or may not be hampered by the fact that the San Francisco DA has filed suit against them:

A bit more expensive, but maybe the AirDog might be an alternative.

Currently available through Amazon and supports swappable batteries.

Thanks Sam, I looked into the airdog and decided I have enough GoPro cameras. Besides the reviews were a bit off. Not quite real life for me. One can only hope, right?

Guess I'm stuck with the DJI I picked up in WBB last fall, I can add it to the Inspire, Blade 350, Blade 180, Parrot, and the other 6 drones that sit on the shelf with the RC cars and trucks, and 23 helicopters.:o
And I thought I had a kite problem, second thought, I don't have a problem at alllllllllll.
What to buy next? hahaha

Given the number of drones and helos you list, I think it's time to sink some money into some Arduino hardware and DIY your own FMe drone.

Bonus points if you cobble a helo with with speed and range of a Shadowhawk drone..... with or without the weapons modules.

I found a surprise in my checking account this morning, a deposit from Lily Camera. Refund paid in full. At least they kept this part of the deal. Now to buy a new toy.
