Room booked. Prices are up! But then again, I missed a couple of years.

BeamerBob - 30-1-2017 at 07:11 PM

Yes the resort fee is an increase that makes it more than in the past. But there is no hotel option that costs as little and isn't a half hour away as well. Welcome aboard Snowbird!

Hope this helps

I just booked my room and it was (unfortunately) painful.

So...I'd like to give information that might make your call easier.

I am staying At Buffalo Bills starting Saturday (March 25) and leaving Saturday (April 1).

Saturday 25th: $79 + taxes and resort fee = $103.48
Sunday 26th: $28 = $46.50
Monday 27th: ... $46.50
Tuesday 28th: ... $46.50
Wednesday 29th: ... $46.50
Thursday 30th: $38 = $57.75
Friday 31st: $79 = $103.48

Total for me is $507.05

The reason it was painful...
#1. 34 minute on hold.
#2. The lady could not find the code. She did after another 2 minute wait.
#3. The charge to the cc is the first day. She quoted $103.48 and then said that $116.42 would be the charge today. I asked what changed and she kept saying that was with taxes. We went around three times until she said "oh...I see what you are asking"
#4. She said "Departing on Friday". I said no on Saturday. The price went up another $100. I said "No, I am leaving Saturday the 1st. You quoted me the seven days". She said "But you are leaving on the 1st so we need to charge you that night". It took another few discussions until she figured it out. To the point where she went "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven...Oh".

Don't take this as a complaint. I am happy I got through but communication (never a one way street and I was 50% of the talking) was difficult. I had similar communication issues last time and had to figure it all out at the counter..after a long day and I just wanted to sleep.

I hope this helps you. If not, or if someone does not like the prices shown...delete this message or ask me to and I will.

See you all in March!
Paul

Thanks for the info. I called the number before I posted the code publicly and was talking to someone within a minute. She instantly responded with Ivanpah Buggy Expo so I was certain the code was accurate and in the system.

On the pricing, we don't have real negotiating power with the number of rooms we rent. The Gold Strike which is about 10 miles up the road is a little cheaper on the weekends but a little more on weekdays. If other accommodations work better for someone, it doesn't hurt the event in any way if you stay somewhere else. There is a provision in the contract that gives a complimentary room if we rent 40 rooms but that's never happened so not a concern.

I had a good receptionist. She even took the time to tell me the going rate for each room. Not much discount accept the weekends. Like Bob mentioned, the raise in rate is mostly taxes and fees.

It's still a good deal. I'm STOKED! :D

Are we there yet!!!!!!!

BeamerBob - 2-3-2017 at 04:55 PM

That reminds me that I need to reserve my room as well! It will be here in no time!

Wind_dog - 2-3-2017 at 06:24 PM

Counting on you to have that lakebed dry and fast!
Otherwise it'll be serious social time with Playa Pig.

BeamerBob - 3-3-2017 at 03:46 PM

It's dry right now. Wind dog I'm delegating dryness to you from here on through the event. Sound good?;)

Wind_dog - 3-3-2017 at 10:52 PM

Deal.

If you have it dry now after so much West Coast rain,
you have exceeded all expectations. Well done!

Next questions regarding dryness:
Is one keg enough? Is two too many?
Pale Ale, IPA or Porter?

I vote for IPA! :saint:

Also, having too much beer at a thing like this is like having too many cigars. I'll be bringing those.

My favorite kind is the kind in my glass. Some old and skilled Kiter taught me that one. This is a sure way to make and keep friends!
