Buggy Foot Straps

Not been on here for a while. New to the kite buggy. I have got a lot of information from this forum so I thought I would share a idea I had.
I have been progressing slowly some due to weather (not much good wind this winter) and some self inflicting. Tend to bottle out when speed increases beyond my comfort zone.
The other day had some good wind and was learning instead of bottling I was getting my turns fast and sharp. Taking the power off and staying under control. Short fast figure of 8s.
I have a 1997 flexi foil buggy, during the fast turns my feet kept slipping from the pegs and it would have helped if I could pull as well as push on pegs during turn. Foot straps where needed.
Loads of ideas on Net here is mine. I cut a bicycle inner tube up and attached it to the pegs with jubilee clips, fully adjustable easily replaced cheap. Also means I can still remove pegs for transport and storage. The inner tube seems to hold its shape on the peg allowing foot to slip in and out easily. Picture attached, I hope.

Always nice to see folks home brewing! I too found the need for some sort of capture for my feet while buggying, particularly on bumpy ground where my feet would get bounced off.

A couple of years ago there were some threads about this that I'm just not going to search for right now, but one important thing that came up was NOT wanting foot retention in the case of an OBE or some sort of turtle roll with the buggy. That's a lot of mass and you could end up injuring your lower body pretty badly if you get tangled up in the sprawl.

I thus ended up using a design that was more of a secondary vertical side peg combined with a strap that went down under the foot peg that I can sling my heel on, adjusting its length so the ball of my foot is against the peg. I can get in and out of this pretty easily, but I will say that I've had it wrap up and hold my foot a few times so it is clearly not perfect. I'm going to post some pictures here from two years ago because they are handy. I've long since upgraded the tan webbing and rings to some nice quality black webbing and real clips for a much cleaner look but the design is the same. The vertical side pegs were a great upgrade and really helped. I got them off of an old mountain bike.
