yearly dilemma

Suds after thuds - 5-7-2017 at 02:19 PM

I'm pretty happy with what I got, but...

every summer I wonder if it wouldn't be good to start a state-side quiver. It's kind of ridiculous to travel with two kids, a wife, and kites. We got turned away by a Berlin Taxi driver one year and wound up taking public transportation to the airport.

Anyway, I'd like to find a 10m wave/freeride kite to fill the hole between my 15 Matrixx and 8 Reo.

I'm eyeballing a new:
2015 Slingshot Screamer 5'2"
and a 10m
2016 Slingshot Wave SST

but I'd be real happy to find some used gear here.

Check the price on a Switch Element.

Where are you taking your vacation? Is there no option to rent for a week? Some shops may provide week long demos of their school gear. That would allow you to "upgrade" every year and never have to travel with the gear.

Can't reply

That's the site that I've been looking at, LoL. I'm splitting my vacation between the Vineyard and Cape.
There's Skyhigh on MV and a shop in Yarmouth adjust over the Bass river that would do renting, but 4 weeks could be a lot of windy days.

I'll probably wind up bringing 2 kites and taking three home again.

Enjoy your trip! I have a cottage in Eastham on the Cape. You may want to check out http://www.masskiting.com/. Maybe you can score a used deal on a local kite when you arrive or see if anyone is up for a long term demo. There are a lot of Cape riders on that board.

Thanks B-roc, I found some good reads at Masskiting. Anything ever come of that reality tv show? My family lives in Barnstable. I usually just cruise around Barnstable harbor, tide permitting. Maybe this year I'll get more adventurous and check out some new spots.

I wound up taking a Screamer off of real water sports' hands.
Still interested in a 10 m.
But the primary preparation itch is scratched.
