The problems of life parted yesterday for the entire day. Headed to the beach with only the basics because the jeep doesn't hold much.
A few kites, flexboard, camcorder, lunch, and a desire to do a bit of play and filming of a new idea.
The moment I opened the back of the jeep to unload my stuff a Porsche Cycenne pulls up and we start talking. I find out the 2 guys are paraplegics and
one of them brought his wife to help with there blokarts they just bought.
The wind was onshore at about 10mph and the beach was rather soft from all the rain. Lots of puddles miles of open beach.
Both of the guys had previous sailing experience so a few tips on Blokart basics and they were off down the beach. I'm thinking that if the wind lets
off a bit they CANT just walk back. If they flip over, oh crap! They made it back long enough to yell a few things at the guys wife and they were off
again.
I found out for the last 12 years after the guy was hurt his wife said he hasn't sailed, or rode his mountain bike or much of anything. After about 3
hours the guys took a break and asked me to show the guys wife how to Blokart. Let's just say it was a one sided desision to not learn how to Blokart.
I don't like going so fast, she will overcome the fear one day.....
The wife, I can't remember her name or the guys for that fact, said her husband hasn't smiled like that in over 10 years. Both the guys had permagrins
from ear to ear.
Wheel chairs, soft sand, wet sand, wind, rain, hail, lightning, thunder, and the fact you can't just tell a kid to stop playing and having fun.
Nothing was going to stop these guys from having a good time.
I never got my kites out or the camcorder. Not even a picture of the guys or the event itself. I had a blast watching the guys play.
After everything was put away it was decided to eat BBQ for dinner.
They bought our dinner as a thank you for the day. It was a bust as far as my filming idea but there's always next time.
I have 3 new friends and another excuse to go to the beach. Haha, what did I do with my kite today? I left it in the car and had a great BBQ
instead.
Haven't seen smiles like that in a bit of time, better than gold.

Top notch Jeff! Before I even got done reading the story I knew there wasn't a chance in hell your gear was coming out if you had the chance to help
someone else have a great time! Great story, better experience, and an even better man! See you soon my friend.

The strangest part is that I didn't know them and somehow they knew me. I never asked why they stoped to talk to me about blokarts, glad they did. The
best BBQ is at Ranch House BBQ just outside of Olympia.
Rich, only good thing about not getting your stuff out to play is that you don't have to clean up when you get back home.
