Photo testing

eric67m - 10-2-2018 at 11:42 AM

I'm sick of smaller photos or pictures. This thread is for testing ways of posting them. Windstruck was suggesting photobucket but it was not working for me.

Photo from phone...

Hosted on Google.

Is there a way to attach that link so it just shows the photo. It only tries to upload from my phone so I just pasted it into the text.

jeffnyc - 10-2-2018 at 12:19 PM

That link you posted looks like it's cut off, so not working. Did you try hitting preview post, then clicking on the "insert an image" icon (yellow with mtns) and pasting the direct url to your image.
The icon just adds [IMG]url[/IMG] to your url.
The problem is you have to have your hosted image properly resized, or it will show up as super giant and mess up the formatting of the page. I wonder if there's a [width][/width] tag or something like that...

edit - I don't know about google, but dropbox makes it difficult to access the image - you have to edit the url.

BBCODE guide

Windstruck - 10-2-2018 at 12:44 PM

Jeff above is providing clearer direction than I did via U2U. I use the insert photo button from Preview that he describes. Within Photobucket is a resize feature and I often reduce truly large pictures for the reason provided. A mix dimension of 1000 is plenty big enough. Also, I usually do this from my laptop not Phone. Good luck!

Below I added an extra "com" to "photobucket.com" to force a failure so you could see how the text looks. The buggy at the bottom of this post is with the code intact and is 1000 x 1000 pixels in size and stored by me on Photobucket.

When I go to my google image, copy the link and click the yellow icon it shows me and previews this. It shows for me as a tiny block or text.

Using tinypic.com, sized for 17" screen.

eric67m - 10-2-2018 at 04:55 PM

The picture is larger but it is rotated and doesn't seem to be a way to change that.

Well, it let me upload one picture. I tried a second to set another size and it won't work. Tried a different picture, won't do that also....maybe it's my connection.

I just tried tiny pic. Pretty simple. Good stuff! Your's truly at IBX2017. :karate:

eric67m - 10-2-2018 at 05:38 PM

Try a tiny pic in vertical or portrait format.

khaakon - 10-2-2018 at 06:47 PM

Wow, gotta love Tinypic - didn't even have to register

eric67m - 10-2-2018 at 10:02 PM

I asked to try and do a portrait format picture. It rotates mine counter clockwise.

eric67m - 10-2-2018 at 10:07 PM

I did not see a way to rotate it after it was uploaded to tinypic so I tried to outsmart it and rotate it clockwise before importing it... It flipped the image over.

Also if i try to add a second picture to the forum page it says I'm trying to access post data and deletes the previous picture and any text i have added.

When you upload your photo to Tinypic, resize it first - if you need to get it to a sensible number of pixels, that is. Then choose 'default' as size, instead of those other formats.

..hopefully this one turned out right ...

Good kitespot with beautiful scenery ... right ?

.. I don't mean to hijack the post, just want to add a recommendation for an absolutely awesome free photo editor for Windows; "Nomacs" - small and elegant and well featured.

Also 1 tip for posting on PKF; after writing, but before you actually post: mark all text, copy (ctrl-a then ctrl-c) and then preview. That way you do not loose everything when the forum program(?) sometimes chokes and displays nothing while vanqushing everything you just precariously wrote. Happy posting, thanks again for the tip on Tinypic!

eric67m - 11-2-2018 at 08:11 PM

Test using "photo and picture resizing" app . Sorry to add again my previous resizing app won't allow use on two phones at then same time...

Well it appears for now tiny pic is not working. It was nice to have larger pictures but when the service goes away so do all the pictures on their site, and all the sites you load them to, now many of my pictures are gone from my posts here on our website...

Ed Cline - 5-10-2018 at 09:18 AM

Hey dude, click on one of my pics.
Sign up free.
Never post unlinked embeds or it'll turn everyone's post into tiny letters.
Never post unlinked because it's wrong also.

Better check my advice...

Ed Cline - 5-10-2018 at 09:23 AM

The line at the top is probably a screenshot.
The photo bucket took all my pics once too.
Good thing I have nothing important to show.:cool2:

Ed Cline - 5-10-2018 at 09:43 AM

Two at once. Oh and by sheer coincidence my two latest kites.

khaakon - 5-10-2018 at 01:46 PM

 Fabalous!! Just noticed the post about Tinypic being down, IMGBB looks even better, and is super easy to use (in windows (tm)... ) with good options still. Thanks, herr Cline

eric67m - 5-10-2018 at 08:17 PM

It appears that tinypic is working again.... for now.
