Ideas for GPS Support for a buggy

Glx - 10-2-2018 at 08:00 PM

Just wanted to check what everybody is doing for mounting their GPS on their buggy. On the flexifoil I had a simple velcro strap around the down tube where I would clip the etrex 30 GPS.
With the new buggy (MG Supra), the swan neck is a lot more vertical so the velcro strap with the weight of the GPS on it is sliding at the bottom.

This is not the only part you need. You will need three parts, this one, a connector, and a clamp for your downtube. Jeepersjoey turned me on to ram parts. They are great. Highly recommended.

I went to Lowes and got some 10lb Velcro that was sticky backed and stuck it directly to my gps and the buggy Holds perfectly. I have a PTW GPS holder I havent mounted it to my GT yet but will before Spring

Thanks guys. I am familiar with RAM products and have the cradle and arm for the etrex. What I have not been able to find yet is a clamp with the ram ball for a square tube. Can always rig something up, just was curious to see what everyone else was doing because I am sure someone here has already come up with a great idea.

Jeepersjoey turned me on to RAM parts and I set up a system for my Garmen GPS (eTrex 20x) and my iPhone side by side up my down tube. Not the greatest of photos, but here is my setup:

The downtube on my PL BigFoot+ frame is approximately a 1.5" square tube. I bought the following clamps that fit perfectly:

You will also need one of these:

And one of these:

And one of these:

...so, four parts in all to mount the Garmin GPS onto a downtube.

Thank you windstruck. Its that base piece that I was not finding. I have everything else so this is perfect.

Most excellent!

MG Supra - what is the dimension of the downtube? From you picture in your 1sts post it looks a little bigger than the PL downtube. The mount I showed you comes in various widths. I found that the 1.5" fit perfectly for the PL downtube but yours may be different. Goodl uck!

Thx. Downtube is 2 3/8". I already placed an order for a 2.5" mount. Thx for steering me in the right direction.

i spoke to buggy bags and they were kind enough to make a one off bag for my garmin edge 200.

another option i used as well was using an mp3 player armband that runners use, tunebelt make some cool looking belts and you just have to spend a little time online reading up on which size fits best.

I too use a RAM mount but skipped all the arms and gimbals. I drilled two holes in my down tube and fastened it on with two 8/32 screws. It has worked perfectly.

Thank you guys. I ended up getting the RAM 2.5" square tube mount and it is already on the buggy.
