JoJo depower

ColinW - 15-2-2018 at 09:20 AM

A local guy has some older Jojo depowers he's getting rid of. They're in great shape.
Can anybody speak about Jojo wet 5m and/or 8m and the Jojo Rage 12m.
I've done a google search, and apart from the Jojo website I haven't been able to find much.
They'll be used on land.
Thanks,
colin

Those kites are OLD, like from 2001. They were JOJO's "lets jump on the kitesurf bandwagon effort". They were not depowers built from scratch. They modified existing fixed bridle models to depower.

The WET is based on their ET kite. Beginner line. A friendly kite as far as JoJo go.

The Rage is based on their RM (Race Model). A high strung advanced race kite. A real handful in gusty conditions.

The ugly part was the depower is counter intuitive. A very scarey and dangerous design. To power up, you needed to sheet out. To depower, you needed to sheet in. Backwards to every other depower out there. I think that was because fixed bridles steer off the front lines and they based their bar and bridle on that?? Not sure if it can be rigged to work the proper way around??

Overall, the Jojo's were the most challenging kites I flew back then. Unfortunately, I don't remember more specifics about their handling.

Thanks Zero. Fantastic Info!
Sounds like it might be better to turn them into fixed bridles again or a lovely sunshade to cover the picnic table?
jy1 - I don't own them yet, but the guy who does is downsizing and motivated. I got a Libre original v-max buggy for a VERY reasonable price.:o
Is 4 and 7/8s buggies too many (one has no seat)?

We are planing on driving down to Vegas for IBX around that time. It's a long haul, but worth it. We'll probably ski a little on the way to break up the drive.
Why don't you try for Ivanpah too, then you can borrow what you'd like while there?
