Snow Kites Wanted

Steve in Gypsum - 8-7-2018 at 08:53 PM

If anyone has any snowkites for sale, please let me know. I'm going to switch from inflatables to foil kites for my snowkiting this year and only use my inflatables for water kiteboarding. Thanks in advance.

I posted this in the For Sale section by accident before noticing that there's a separate Wanted section. Sorry for that. Newbie on this forum so I'm still learning my way around the website.

I've a couple of HQ Apex III's (7.5 & 10M) that are in great condition and even better are great in snow. Sent u2u.

Thanks Tom. I'll be using the kites with bars rather than handles, so I'm looking for good snow kites and bars. I'm thinking that Ozone Frenzies and HQ (or HQ4 now) Montana kites would be the best choices, but I'll consider other brands and models. Since I'm building a complete quiver of foil kites for snowkiting, I'm interested in all sizes right now.

Thanks to everyone who responded here and in U2U messages. I'm all set now. I don't need any more kites at the current time.

What did you end up with? Update your profile :)

Steve in Gypsum - 21-7-2018 at 02:22 PM

Hi Jeff. Not sure how to update my profile (i.e. where to put the kites). But to answer your question, I ended up with an HQ Montana VIII 8m, a 2015 Ozone Frenzy 11m and a full quiver of Flysurfer Peak 3 kites.

Where do you plan to kite ski?

Steve in Gypsum - 22-7-2018 at 08:37 PM

I live in Gypsum, Colorado, so most of my snowkiting has been on Lake Dillon or in the Flat Tops. I used to have a couple snowmobiles, but I sold them, so now I'm going to need to kite mainly in park and ride areas. This winter, in addition to Lake Dillon, I'm planning on kiting on the Grand Mesa, Rabbit Ears Pass, South Park and wherever else I can find open areas with fairly consistent wind. It appears that you live in Basalt? If that's the case and you snowkite, we should meet up sometime for some snowkiting. I've actually done way more water kiting than snowkiting and I use LEI kites for water, so the foil kites that I've purchased recently are kind of a new thing for me. I used some foil kites for snowkiting quite a few years ago, but went back to my LEI kites because they felt more familiar. I'm giving foil kites another try this winter.

.

It's the Signature field in your profile. It's right below the Bio field which you already seemed to have filled.

One note.... if you list your kites as text all your posts will show up if someone does a search for a kite name that just happens to be in your list. If you do your list as a graphic, then it won't be included in search results.

ATB,
Sam

Hey Steve, great meeting you this weekend up at Lake McConaughy! That was some awesome kiting weather on Saturday, for sure...

Hopefully we have better snow this winter here in CO. Also, FWIW, Anthonyshopguy is the person on this forum you should get in touch with if you want to try to kite Grand Mesa. Great guy who is always trying to get someone to go up there with him. Haven't been able to make it out there myself but they had some of the best snow conditions in CO last winter.

Let's stay in touch! Nate

SS kites make superb snow kites BTW, just sayin....

In all seriousness, the two kites I have for sale are SUPERB snowkites. SS are awesome in the snow because there is nothing for the snow to get caught inside of. You can pile snow on them all day long and it just shakes right off. Light and small to pack too, again just sayin.... ;)

Yeah, was a great weekend Nate. I'll stay in touch and I'll also get in touch with Anthonyshopguy regarding the Grand Mesa. Windstruck, I already ended up with a quiver of SS kites (Peak 3) but thanks for letting me know about yours anyway. Good luck selling them. Steve

Great that you have the P3s. They should set you up well for the snow season.
