If I wanted to combine two of my line sets (A 18M and 25M Flexifoil lines), what is the best way of going about it that allows quick assembly /
disassembly?
I have a local landboarding spot that has a great amount of space but surrounded by trees - Id like to get above their influence line as my blade

Set of 4 pigtails which should be enough to connect 2 quadline sets costs $14.95. You could probably cobble together a set yourself, but it may not
be as clean.

Are you talking about making 43m lines? Pigtails would make it a little easier to connect and disconnect, but the cleaner way would be to do a loop to

The thought of running 18m (the shorter length) of line through the loop on the 23m line... and then doing it 4 times, especially if there is any kind
of ground wind. Crikey..... I prefer to save my supply of curse words for special occasions.

Exactly what I'm talking about. - I want to landboard at Van Cortlandt park as its like 20 minutes away from me - But the last time I went it was
miserable. The wind was completely ruined by the trees for my lines. The kite would pull hard then completely collapse. It made it impossible to
balance on the board at all. Meanwhile some very large single line kites were doing fine - but way above the trees.
I think the pig tails are the way to go as I'll be stealing lines from my other kite / handle set up.
I think that Van Cortlandt park is really going to shine for snowkiting come winter time. Once the leaves fall from the tree's I bet the wind carries

Lengthening your line will add a lot of power to your kite at the cost of control. Throw in gusty winds and I think you are setting up for trouble /
lofting.

I still say this plan is pottential trouble. Total frustration at least.
You do know that the rile of thumb is you should have a minimum of double your line length obsticle free? Wind is messed up 7+ times the distance it
is high downwind.

The park has about 1,000 ft x 1,000 ft rideable square surrounded by lets say 40 ft trees..... so 240 Ft of wind is messed up downwind. 150 ft lines
will get me most of the distance away and certainly above the turbulent wind.
I know I will spend more time in the power of the wind window since my radius has increased by ~~ 75%. Worth a try though. jeffnyc - 20-8-2018 at 09:17 PM
You won't really get clean wind there, but no reason not to give it a shot (hopefully you won't get kicked out of the park for riding around). I would
think North or West would work best in the bulge section opposite the baseball diamond. Try it in very light wind, and watch out midday for thermals,
particularly with that big kite of yours.
*edit - I meant try the park with the regular length lines - not with the extensions - just realized I wasn't clear at all. I'll give you a call later

Flysurfer doesn't use ELCs anymore - they switched to teeny tiny rings that they splice into the loop. Which does exactly the same thing a knot would
do. I think the reasoning was the ELCs were a bit heavy and caused problems every once in a while.
One last easy/cheap way... take a short bit of leader line, fold it and figure 8 knot the end to form a loop with a knot. Loop/loop connect into the

This has "kite in the tree tops" written all over it I'm afraid. It is funky to fly on long, long lines as people have been saying. I remember
reading something, I believe from BigKid about him trying supremely long lines out on Ivanpah and nearly shortening his life. Maybe it was someone
else, but as folks have been saying, this changes the flying characteristics a lot. I suspect the wind will still be janky up above the trees and if
you let the kite go up over the trees that you'll hook a line in a tree top and bring the kite down into them. At least it will be forty feet in the
air.

UPDATE:
After flying the kite on the 25M lines at the park I decided to try adding the 18M lines to them.
Although the wind anywhere was not fast enough to really get going in the grass, it was clean enough to keep the kite afloat with some pull 90% of the
time. The larger wind window is a ton of fun and it did not sacrifice that much control.
The only issue I has was my bootleg paracord splices tangling things up for me on the ground. Not fun untangling 43M of line. I also had to tune the
length of my brake lines a bit, lengthening them to get the kite to fly with full power. but once I did that plenty of fun was had in ~~ 7-10 MPH
