Born-Kite 5.5m & 7.5m LongStar2s - BOTH SOLD

Both kites are in great shape and come complete with trace Ivanpah dust at no extra charge. These are superb single skin kites similar to Peaks with comparable ARs. Kites are strung as five line kites but can easily be flown on a standard 4.5 flag out system. They will fly great on any standard DP bar. Ideal choices for snow kiting and beach buggying when you want to pile snow or sand on the kites to hold them down without worrying about getting anything stuck inside the baffles between the primary and (unnecessary) secondary skin. They pack up super small and light.

Kites are being sold "kite only" without bars.

At today's exchange rate of 1 EU = 1.25 USD these kites can be bought new from the Born-Kite website in Germany for $486 and $611, respectively. Shipping from Europe will cost you another $75 to get DHL Premium service which is the only way you want to get kites from Germany IMHO.

What kind of bar would they need? I assume depower, but is there anything unique about what the bar needs to have or do?

Nothing unique. Just a standard DP bar. Could be strung 4.5 style or full 5 line.

Thank you Ed, exactly. Randy, these kites are rigged with a central yellow line that splits like a "T" that go through some eyelets near the leading edge left and right from the kite's center line. The bottom of the T can be attached to a 5th safety line that ultimately terminates through the chicken loop. Pop the chicken loop and you scrunch up the kite like an accordion, akin to Ozone's ReRide system.

Born kites have little color coded bridle storing loops along the center of the leading edge and the yellow line could simply be left attached to that and you'd never even think about it (or it could be easily removed).

Most DP setups have a 5th line that originates in a SS ring in the chicken loop, feeds through the chicken loop and then attaches part way up on of the power lines. When you pop the chicken loop you flag the kite out on one of the power lines. Single skin kites loose all of there power when flagged out like this and in fact is the standard setup for Born kites as well. This setup is what I was referring to when I was saying 4.5.

The sixth and seventh photos put the "skin" in single skin. Marketing idea for someone, do single skins in skin or hide patterns :D

We have an extra order of wind that recently shipped to Raleigh.
I'm sure we'll be able to spare you a little toward the end of the week.
The LS2 is even more stable near the ground than the Peak so I've been dreaming about how it would act on Prolinks.

But in all honesty that 7.5m is really speaking to me. What would you say the bottom end is like? I think it would go nicely with my 3.5m.

If you already own the 3.5m then the 7.5m would work as a stretch kite to bridge that gap. Depends of course on your conditions, temperament for power, etc. These SS DP dump an immense amount of power when you sheet them out, and if you fly them on a bar with a clam cleat to adjust the main line then you can truly dump pretty much all of their power at the expense of some flutter.

Give it a whirl and then swing back and fill in the gap with the 5!;)

Would you say you could get going at about 5-7mph on grass with it? The low-low end is my current stuggle. I was thinking a 9m peaks or a 9.5 LS2 would be my best bet. Anything bigger and the gusts around here would start getting unmanageable and it is pretty common for the wind vary from 5 to 15mph in the span of 10 minutes.

The 7.5m is now sold. I'd say the 5.5m LS2 is quite a bit to small for the conditions described. For what. It's worth, so was the 7.5m. I've had a fair amount of experience in conditions like you are describing from a couple of years ago when I was buggying on grass athletic fields in the mountains of Utah around where I live. I agree with your thinking of the "9-ish" SS DP being a good option.

If you are strictly in the used market then in the US that likely means picking up a 9.0m Peak (1, 2, or 3). A great combo if you can get it would be a 9m P1 with a long P2 bar. Stateside I doubt you'll be able to find a 9.5m LS2.

If you are in the market for a new kite IMHO the 9.0m RaceStar is hard to beat. I just had a blast with it in Oregon last week.
