Kite advice 3m range

Dagon - 18-4-2007 at 10:22 AM

I need a race Kite in the 3m range, I was thinking of a blade, I hear the blade IV are great but I am looking for a good deal so a used kite is what I need. Any advice?

I was also looking at the profoils, great price, I have a 1 m but was considering a 3.5

Its all about the PL pepper

Profoils are probably the best deal for the size. Ted makes an awesome kite. A couple other suggestions along with the above Pepper is the Beamer III 3.0 or the TSR 3.6. We just received our first shipment of the new Ozone Haka. I had the chance in sub par winds to fly the 3.0 and it still put a huge grin on my face. Cant wait to get this baby out on the playa for some serious speed runs. I think Ozone has another winner!!!

Pablo was clearing out some PKD Centuries at great prices. They are a great race kite. You should send him a message.

Dagon - if the wind is favorable next time we're out remind me to let you have a go on my 4.5 Century - it's an awesome kite. I'm definitely thinking of getting one smaller and would get a larger one if I could afford it... :-)

Cents are indeed 1/2 price at the moment.

Blades are fairly quick, but they're lifty. I found a big difference even between the Brooza and the Century, the Century felt much safer stuck to the edge of the window on a speed run, with the Brooza and the amount of lift it produces when lit, I got a bit more downwind pull when the speeds started getting up there.

If you're after freestyle, the blades are the way to go, if you want to go fast, get a race kite. The cents are an entry level race kite, The Yaks are the top end for now. RM+'s are pretty sweet as well. I haven't really flown the U-turn one in a bug yet so I can't say how it compares. But nothing beats flying a race kite when you're blasting across the playa with it totally locked in.

See if Ted has any more 3.5 Profoils. They are a good deal at regular retail and they are going for wholesale, without lines. More kick than a Beamer or Pepper and just as stable and easy to fly. Lifty, too.

Just shipped my last 3.5 yesterday. Only a single 1.5 left.

I'll miss them

I like my 2.5 profoil. It is liftier than my ballistic 3.6 . Now i want to get a 5.5..

So for the price i would recommend the profoils.

And talk to Angus for lines and killers. Great service and fast to ship.
