Hi all,
First off i'm new here and to this sport. I've had a 3.0m Beamer for just over a week and I have to say that I am hooked. In that week i've managed to
fly in light breezes and had great fun. Then today....
A mate of mine who used to have a powerkite til about 3 years ago came down for the day. We took the kite out in the local park and had a play. The
wind I found out afterwards was about 15mph.
I decided to launch the kite and play around with it and I managed to get dragged along on my feet and gneral mucking about with it. Then my mate had
a go and he did this really cool little trick of sitting down, getting the kite into the powerzone and then using it's pull to pull him up and then
jump at the same time. He got about 2 - 3 feet off the ground then came down gracefully. I can do that thinks me. Well I tried it, got about 2 feet
off the ground then lost pull (probably my lack of skill) and went heading towards the ground face first. Fortunately I managed not to hit the ground
with my face but I did get dragged digracefully across the ground for about 10 metres on my front. As I was heading towards the ground I had visions
of me breaking some bone somewhere.
Thankfully I escaped with no injures.
Despite this however I am now more hooked than ever and can't wait to try again.
I now know what you all see in this.
Any major tips for a newbie.
Thanks all.
Oh and HI!!!

After losing it and before thinking about braking bones, think about breaking or dumping the kite. :wink2:
