This is mostly for Spencer (soliver) as I seem to remember that he took up the mandolin.
May I ask, is it as serious as kites, when it comes to acquisition?
I recently took up the ukulele...
There might be a problem:puzzled:tomdiving - 18-5-2019 at 06:27 PM
if it is, then between the two of you you'll have a full orchestra assembled in no time.
then perhaps you could get john holgate involved and make even more stellar kite video music. (or just great music in general)
let me know when you release your first album and i'll be first in line for a copy.

As long as it has to do with strings I guess we'll allow it.
Try not to practice both disciplines at once, but if you do please send me a link to the video.bobalooie57 - 19-5-2019 at 03:03 AM
Considering I'm only a month in and am well on my way to be able to outfit The Ukulele Orchestra of the United Kingdom, and am eyeing more on FB
marketplace within 100 miles, we could put together quite a jam at the fall Wildwood, if I can make it!
They are kind of like kites in that they sell for half price used, and they start out cheap due to their small size. riffclown - 19-5-2019 at 08:22 AM

Inline skating - Bont SemiRace custon boots with 110mmx4 aluminum frames
Offroad RC cars and trucks - Traxxas X-Maxx, T-Maxx 2.5, E-Revo Mini VXL, Arrma Typhon 6s 2018 model, and some Chinese brand of tiny MOA crawler
Photography - Originally started with Nikon D3400, but I bought a Sony a7iii this year with a 24-105mm F4, 70-200mm F4, and 24mm F1.4 prime from
Rokinon
Onewheeling - OneWheel +XR
Yo-yos - I have a few, but I haven't used them in a while. Nice CNC milled aluminum ones with both responsive and unresponsive bearing sets
PC Gaming - I have been building computers almost as long as I have been flying kites. My current rig has too many parts to list here, but the main
specs are i7-8700K 32GB RAM and RTX 2080ti with a few TB of SSDs
I have lots of hobbies, so I am never really bored. Each of them is a little more or a little less demanding on the wallet, depending on the season.
Although I haven't spent any money on kiting in a few years. The last kite I bought was two or three years ago. I am getting close to a quiver upgrade
though. I am just waiting for a few more modern kites to show up in the for sale section.cheezycheese - 21-5-2019 at 03:14 AM

Yes, only more expensive ... BUT it doesn't hurt as much when you mess up and it's not weather dependent.
Fortunately for you, Ukuleles are flat topped instruments and thus cost A LOT less than Mandolins. ie... a decent Kala Uke in most cases costs about
one tenth the price of a decent Eastman Mandolin (a good starter). IMO its worth the expense... its ridiculously fun!
I've lost my ability to post pics, or I'd share pics of my 2 instruments.soliver - 21-5-2019 at 06:21 AM
Ok... my main Player: a custom made Silverangel Econo A with a Cedar top and maple back and sides, gold hardware and a satin "old-violin" finish. It
was completed for me in September and I've loved every minute of it:
-Wife & twins kid
-PC gaming
-Supermoto riding (old KTM LC4 640 '02) top notch!
-Blades... spyderco, benchmade, zt .... gentleman folder & fix
-BMX old timer rider at TAZ skatepark
-Z50's from honda... got a 1969 AK1 & a 1970
-Collectible cards... women of marvel & thor movies

I just saw this after quite a while. I have settled down on the acquisition phase. I ended up getting a soprano, which I gave to my grandson in hopes
of prying him from his tablet(it didn't), an Ibanez electric concert sized , a Luna Banjolele(my go to, I love the twang) and an Islander tenor, for a
mellower sound.
I'm working on mostly Woody Guthrie and other thought producing folk type musicbobalooie57 - 11-12-2019 at 10:41 AM
I forgot to ask, with all the wildfire news from Australia, has anyone heard from John Holgate or our other friends down there?
