Angus, have you gotten any insight on next year? We put our deposit down on our house again for the same week as this year, but I doubt it will be so
early next year.soliver - 29-5-2019 at 03:21 PM
I looked before we left SSI and the first week of May 2020 had favorable tides.... but I've been wrong before.Randy - 30-5-2019 at 08:48 AM
Inquiring minds want to know.....and can't wait till JIBE 2020. Ed Cline - 30-5-2019 at 09:45 AM
Is there any chance for unplanned Jekyll Isle buggying ?
I could get away in winter spring, but the May event is out of the question when you fix air conditioning for a living. Everything in summer has to be
a day, or at most, a weekend trip.:dunno:Windstruck - 30-5-2019 at 09:59 AM

There's always FALL SOBB! Ed Cline - 30-5-2019 at 12:28 PM
That would be on the other side of the Mississippi right?
I've heard people live there.
VA beach would be the handiest. I get mixed signals about how legal it is though.
If there's a bunch of ninja buggyers over there, they may be keeping it down low.
Questionable fields are (rightfully) jealously kept.

Always a chance for unplanned rides in Jekyll. Just say when.. soliver - 31-5-2019 at 05:04 PM
It's worth the drive Ed, there are a couple of JIBE regulars who come down from Virginia... come on down!
We've already made our plans for next year. We'll be staying on Saint Simons Island for 2 weeks. Hopefully one of them coincides with JIBE.pbc - 1-6-2019 at 01:29 PM

I'm in as well. October has good wind. Early November isn't bad eitherRandy - 1-6-2019 at 03:45 PM
I could be up for a fall visit to Jekyll. acampbell - 21-6-2019 at 08:51 AM
Hey Gang
What do you think about Monday May 4 with low tide at !2:42 through Friday May 8 with low tide at 4:06 pm??
Second half or the month are similar times in the afternoon and this keeps us farther away from Memorial day/ Mothers day.
I'll book it with JIA if y'all are cool with it.
AngusRandy - 21-6-2019 at 08:58 AM
Sounds good to me. soliver - 21-6-2019 at 09:07 AM
First full week of May (4th-8th) is my preference!! We have already made our travel plans as they are dependent on my in-laws. We are planning to stay
on SSI for a 2 weeks stint next spring and this falls on our second week! So I'll be staying up the road a piece, but on the beach as much as
possible! There's great riding on SSI too, IMO!
Thanks Angusmarkite - 21-6-2019 at 11:25 AM

hey Angus
Did you get approval from JIA for first week of May? looking at getting a deposit down soon for a rental property
Rental house for next year
speleopower - 14-12-2019 at 08:40 PM
I would like to set up a rental house for the event as well. It might entice me and my friends to stay longer. Who is getting a house?
I don't mind sleeping on the floor for awesome kiting. I ended up getting the floor at the hotel this year (JIBE 2019)....I paid for it all and I got
the floor while the girls got the beds. Grrrr....

Camping is great but I'm open to actual living quarters too. Much less stuff to fly down with! Are dates confirmed?acampbell - 16-12-2019 at 07:43 AM
Dates are confirmed May 4-8 2020.
I'm getting ready to book flights as it looks like I'll be coming in from TX.
I'll update the website this week when I fix my FTP feed. But you guys know the drill.
Looking forward to seeing y'all.
Angusacampbell - 16-12-2019 at 06:07 PM
Hey
The web site is updated with daily times, tides and sunset data.
I'll continue to tweak it in the near future, correcting some outdated links and info about local lodging on the mainland and such.
I did update the prices for getting on to Jekyll Island, which is now $8/ day, $38 per week and $55/ year.
Fair Winds and Happy Holidays,
AngusBeamerBob - 17-12-2019 at 07:08 AM
Angus if you have things in Texas that would be difficult to fly with, you could drop them off at my place on your way west. acampbell - 17-12-2019 at 08:56 AM
Thanks Bobby; Most all of my kite stuff and buggy are in a storage locker in Brunswick. Someone else in our tribe made sure of that.:D I'll fly to
JAX and rent an SUV or minivan and likely stay at one of the exit 29 properties near the storage space..
AngusBeamerBob - 18-12-2019 at 02:59 PM
The uhaul van is a good option to consider. I used one last time at IBX. BeamerBob - 19-12-2019 at 06:06 AM
Camping reservations confirmed. Arrive on Sunday. Check out on Saturday. acampbell - 19-12-2019 at 09:41 AM
Hooked and Booked. Flying from someplace called Tyler, TX. Arrive Sunday and depart Saturday. Got me a badass minivan. Joan will stay at home in the
RV to take care of the furrballs. Next year we will be able to drive the house back to Jekyll and do it proper family style.soliver - 20-1-2020 at 11:59 AM
We're locked into a property with the extended family (my clan plus the in laws) on Saint Simons... They are staying beach side Mid-april through
mid-may and I'll be joining them the last week of April through the first week of May. So though I won't be on JI, I'll be there as much as possible!Ed Cline - 6-2-2020 at 04:16 PM

It says to tell them if I need anything else for my trip?
Do you think they could do a dozen mile an hour onshore wind for me?
I'd be willing to pay extra....Jack.Oh - 19-2-2020 at 12:12 PM
Hi all,
I am new to the sport have only been to two Wildwood events so far. Only one with my own buggy (last fall). Off-course I plan on attending in the
spring of this year. But I want to get more time in a buggy. I am excited to be able to get to the Jibe this year. It is a bit of a drive for me. But
I am sure it will be worth it.
and Ed, I did request a room with the onshore wind upgradeEd Cline - 19-2-2020 at 12:47 PM
I know where you're driving from Jack. I lived in Geauga Co for many moons.
Once you cross the West Va bridge it's all good.
Look forward to the meet up, this will be the first buggy ride I've had on a beach..

On a good direction (E ish) you will love how much easier it is than at home. If the wind is from a poor direction (N or S) it will be harder but
still better than home. If it offshore (west) you will be windshadowed and probably feel right at home. Ed Cline - 20-2-2020 at 02:35 AM
Happy happy, joy joy, thanks Randy.
I've been worrying about my small experience on a big beach.
Wondering if I'll demonstrate how sharp you can get on a little field, or provide entertainment.
I'm okay either way. I want my age in KPH out of that beach, but I'll settle for a safe trip.
If this works I'm gonna show y'all what a years worth of trying got me in 2019.
Probably a real kiters morning ride.
Edit . If you could see it, it would show persistence and a top speed on this field of 22mph. Miss 30's, want 40.
Thanks to Mr Angus for the GPS. An obsession sent to me for the cost of postage. BeamerBob - 20-2-2020 at 11:47 AM
You'll be amazed at how the hard packed beach and room to run will make speeds in the 30s and 40s routine. I still remember my first time I got caught
up in a broad reach and hit my PR at the time of 35.6. It's magic when it feels effortless. Randy - 20-2-2020 at 01:04 PM
Actually, one I find difficult about JIBE is having to watch out for other riders and "civilians" on the beach. I'm used to being the only person at
the fairgrounds. I don't ride on the parking lots at the lake if there are many cars or people present. That's why I love cold, miserable weather -
everybody else is indoors and I have the playground to myself.
I usually migrate to the most unpopulated area of the beach at Jekyll and ride mainly there, but stop in at the "base camp" to take a break and talk
to the other kiters. The Day's Inn is on the Southside of the beach which is much less crowded. If the wind is good it only a take a few minutes to
get to base camp.
soliver - 20-2-2020 at 05:21 PM
My first time on Jekyll, it took me a lot of effort getting used to not having to turn. I was so used to riding in very small fields, so I had never
been able to go further than the length of maybe 3/4 of a football field. I would go a little ways and turn, then go back a little past where I
started and turn, repeat, repeat... it was so engrained in me that I had a hard time shaking the habit.
Jekyll has many many miles of rideable beach and some have pushed the boundaries and gone farther than any other in the past couple of years!Ed Cline - 21-2-2020 at 07:04 AM
Trying to get every minute I can but not today. It's a Randy day.
Light wet snow with warmer ground under.
Sitting thinking if I'd be okay kiting in my wellies?
Need to think about May.
