8.5 meter Nasa Star 3

I have a definable hole above the DFO 7.04 and before the Born NS3 10m.

Never noticed on the flat, but uphill and upwind needs just a shade more kite.

excuse my stupidity, please - wouldn't a 9m peak take care of those issues?

While the numbers appear to slide the 9m Peak in there, the NasaStar quiver he is trying to fill out are FB. The Peaks are DP.

Mr Tom, If you have an inland field and janky wind the NASA kites are my weapon of choice.

I do fly them like a depowerable' kite. With a bar that you pull in to power up and let out to disturb the leading edge. This results in de power, and lets the kite fall back in the window.

I'd love to fly the Peak kites and I am lucky enough to have all the sizes. The problem is the huge gravity pockets that sometimes form in the field. What else could it be? :rolleyes:

I have definitely looked at building a 8 something NPW 21 but it's a lot of work and I've already got NS5.5 and 7.0 so......ive already got everything I need so probably I will build one myself.

So I started my 8.2 M NPW 21 today. This thing is huge. The first hard part was figuring out how to make it from the fabric I already had given limitation of length, width etc. The keel is 2.2 meters long.......This is 60% bigger than any kite I have made up to now. Workspace is an issue - and it part of what has held me back up to now. We'll see how it goes.

So will you install a third line bridle for braking?

I have the NS3 10 and 12, and the new seven is so fast that it makes the ten feel like leading an old elephant. It wants to, it will, but be patient Sabu :no:

20 meters for me. 30's make a steadier kite, but shrink the field.

Probably a good idea to put in a 3rd line, for reverse launch and as a kite killer.

Lately I'm using mostly no or short lines, but with bigger kites at my fairgrounds spot. If my 7 isn't enough off the bar, then I add some line. I've gone up to 80 feet. If it is really windy I drop down a size. On parking lots I go off the bar or handles. Lately I'm flying single handed a lot on my lake side parking lot. I'll post a video in another thread since this is the "Wanted" section.

do you fly a Nasa-wing for fun or is it the kite you always use for buggying?
here in the Netherlands Nasa-wings are only used by instructors because it's almost an indestructable kite.

Our conditions differ a lot from what you might see on a beach. Inland kiting suffers from a lot gusts, deep lulls and even holes. NPW's can work pretty well in such situations. Foils fly well until they crumple up and fall out of the sky. NPW's do to - just not as often. The ideal setup might be a single skin depower like the Peak or Long Star. I think Ed has a Peak so maybe he can talk about that.

Some locations, like the place I go by the lake are too small for long lines, so NPW's or single skin kites which work on short lines are about the only practical choice.

I also like to make my own kites, so I experiment with different types. I've made a few foils, single skin of various types and NPW's.

Yeah it's love....I actually got triggered when you referred to my kite as a trainer.
I would trade one of my peaks for an 8.5 NS3, if it was in VG condition.
Most threads are good threads..but the real question is.. Who's got my 8.5? ...

Well Folks.....I don't need an 8.5 NS3 anymore.....
I got a note from Germany that the 8.5 NS4 is coming early in 2020.

Colors Black Petrol Orange...... Happy Happy, Joy Joy.

I can't believe I offered a Peak for Nasa trade straight up and no bites.
Kinda glad now though.

Kite manufacturers never fib, and they always bring out every promised kite exactly on schedule........

Glad to hear Steffen is going with a larger NS4. Unlike their lines, the timelines may stretch a tad. I suspect the NS4s are a little more straightforward than the DPs of various forms, so hopefully they will be able to stick to schedule pretty well.

Only 14 days till 2021......Oh, well I just started sewing my 8.2 NPW 21. I've gone from 9 panels down to 4, and sewn the perimeter lines. One thing I have figured out already - there is no place in my house I will be able to lay a kite this big down on the floor and untangle the lines........

Yes sir, I've had the NS4s listed in my autosignature for a while now. They represent a nice incremental improvement over the NS3s. The bundled more bridles into single long lines that cut down on the total number of long bridle lines and of course the 4th gen now uses the much superior BODAPAR bridle lines. There are design differences too, but these are the things I notice (and appreciate) the most going from 3rd gen the 4th.

I am keeping my word with Steffen to keep information I do have close to the vest. I had heard a while ago about B-K looking at some bigger kites such as this 8.5m NS4s and the just-announced 14.0m RS+. Steffen is also working on other kites in an ongoing basis but let's let him role out intel at his pace.

Mr Randy, A few years ago I had serious tangles in a Sport Chute I was trying to fly as a kite.
I hung the bridles from the ceiling fan. Did the same with 2 Peels. I am single.
