My buggy riding spot

Randy - 19-3-2020 at 05:50 AM

is now close to one of the first COV-19 drive up testing locations in the state. The black arrow shows the spot. I ride in big field to the south. You can see my track in red. (Usually I am the only one there.) Hopefully I won't need to go there to get a test anytime soon - it is now limited to those with medical recommendations and police, fire dept, health care workers etc. Buggy season is about over for me now, so I don't know if I will be heading over there now anyway. Usually wind drops and the grass gets to high this time of year, so I go for water sports.

Randy,

I am not sure if you are giving information, stating that you are "close" to a test location, providing a message that this test location is "closed", or saying this is a place to buggy?

Did you post this when you were drunk? Be honest!

Heck...the average poster has no idea where you even are, Carmen SanDiego, so bragging you have a buggy spot is just that...your own buggy spot. Informing us that a test facility is closed is, well, useless without an indication where you or it is!

Yup...drunk post. Keep em coming!

The location is in northern GA, but he could be anywhere. :wee:

Here's hoping that none of us need the testing station - drive-up or otherwise.

Sorry -sober when I wrote it and didn't intend any mystery about its location. Jim Miller Park, Cobb Country GA. It's not my private buggy spot, but I'm just about the only one who ever uses it in the cold weather months. I do sincerely hope no one needs a test. I just thought this was a timely topic for General Chit Chat.

Love that spot!... only 10 minutes from my house... didn't know they were setting up a testing site there! When I was riding more regularly, I was there more than once a week.

Randy, there's a great spot further west in Paulding County called White Oak Park that's even bigger than JR Miller, but I think that would be a pretty long haul for you.

I was aware of White Oak, but never made it that far. Its' hard to pass on a place I know for one I don't......

looks like a cool place to ride, and it's only a 16 hour flight.... :D

You got it! You are welcome to come anytime but I'm afraid you won't find it as good as the beaches you ride on now.

Prime time Buggy season is almost here. Good till June. Starts getting hot in June. Still windy though. July, August; better hit the water. September onwards is prime buggy time.

I estimate 6 buggy people, 1 landsail(me), ~10 windsurfers, ~20 kiteboarders, an active sailing club, and a smattering of kayakers and SUP's. Also soon to be an unknown number of wing sails or whatever they are called. Stringless kites being used like a mast less windsurf sail? Occasionally a land boarder.

This lake has it all, on site restaurants(closed for the moment), 9.5 mile recently repaved bike and walking trail circling the lake and a single track mountain bike trail below the dam in a wooded creek area.

A city owned water reservoir; so no swimming.(liability, no life gaurds, drinking water source?)

The only problem I had with White Oak Park, Randy was that it was so far away. If it had been closer, I probably would've gone there more frequently... the Fairgrounds are just so close that it was a matter of convenience. Not trying to convince you to go somewhere else... just somewhere to ride if JR Miller is shut down to you due to the testing facility.

The White OaK feild is probably 2 to 3 times larger than JR Miller. I have a feeling that it was a small private airfield at some point in the distant past.

Here's a vid of mine from 5yrs ago riding there:
