Idle time projects

I used the bill off one of those cheap painter caps at the hardware store and attached to my hot weather helmet to try and hide from the sun a little more. Working on a tandem adapter for the tandem buggy.

This is a prototype/mockup universal helmet visor made out of webbing and Velcro. I need to make it larger and stiffer. I think this could be a marketable item if it was refined. I won't take it that far; but if you can, go right ahead.

I haven't done anything nearly that cool. I have done 6 tax returns (3 Fed, 3 State), and the 2020 Census. I also have spent a lot time thinking about building another kite. As usual I spend more time trying to figure out what kite, what size, and how to do it without wasting a lot of fabric than it usually takes to make one.

If any of you have battery powered tools; pick up the fan item for some serious luxury.

Who knew that spending all that time making kites would have some useful value later on. I've started making masks, about 25 so far. Sent 2 to my nephew and his wife in NYC who have a one month old baby. Sent one to my 94 year old mom and 20 to the assisted living center where she lives. Now I've almost run out of materials. With what's left I'm working filtered masks now.

You guys need to make a road trip and sample some of this wind before they lock down the borders:

How'd you attach the visor to the helmet?

I'm still working from home so not a ton of free time but more given I'm not commuting so I've helped my youngest make his college decision and then enroll in that school, touched up some walls, etc. that needed painting, cleaned up the yard, planted 12 shrubs/trees and burned last year's brush pile and took the cat to the vet. And I walk at lunch and the end of the day with my wife which we've never done since normally I have a 60-90 minute commute in the morning and evening.

You guys are far more industrious than I. I've just been taking more naps. Then after my nap I determined that would be a perfect time,,,, for another nap. :D

This particular helmet came with a small add on visor that I riveted it too. Had it not had it; I probably would have used some of the front of the hat and riveted it to the helmet.

been thinking of this pretty heavily, mostly as a rainguard for my bicycle helmet that would also help with riding in low sun angles. found this - https://www.amazon.com/Core-Vintage-Helmet-Visor-Black/dp/B0...
and have also considered just wearing a tennis headband visor. the amazon model may be able to slide between the shell and styrofoam once the snaps are removed, depending on how they may be glued together. you might also be able to cut something like it out of a bleach bottle of something similar.
some riders get fishing hats with a longer bill and wear that under their helmet for rain. i may do that and hit it with waterproof spray like nikwax first.
