JIBE 2022

Randy - 19-5-2021 at 02:44 PM

Is it too early to lock in dates for next year - Looking forward to it already:thumbup::)

BeamerBob - 20-5-2021 at 08:09 AM

Looks like May 9-13 provides suitable low tides during mid day.

Sounds like a winner to me! What do others think?

flyhighWNY - 23-8-2021 at 11:07 PM

I'll keep checking back. It's never to early to think about JIBE

You are right about that!

Jack.Oh - 14-9-2021 at 05:50 AM

So are these dates good? Just trying to plan ahead.

"Looks like May 9-13 provides suitable low tides during mid day."

Randy - 14-9-2021 at 08:06 AM

Angus hasn't chimed in yet, so nothing is confirmed. Usually the dates are chosen based on tides but there could be other events so those dates a reasonable guess, but that's all.

Jack.Oh - 14-9-2021 at 09:09 AM

Hi Randy,

I was just looking over my vacation time that I have left for this year and that just led me down the path of whats coming up that I want to get to. I know is like another 9 months and ... well I guess I'm looking forward to it.

Randy - 14-9-2021 at 10:45 AM

I am too. My best buggy riding of the year.

Jack.Oh - 14-9-2021 at 11:24 AM

Yep, its a great location and good folks. I hope to be there regardless off what week will be selected.

acampbell - 10-10-2021 at 11:31 AM

Sorry to be late to my own party; I missed or didn't get the notification.

How about May 16-20? It puts the low tides in the afternoon, albeit a bit later than last year. I think that May 9-13 kind of puts high tides right smack in the afternoon. Is this OK? Other weeks seem awkward. The following tides are for St. Simon's light, which is coastal beach like Jekyll. Remember not to use the inlet, marina (on the intracoastal waterway) or the river.

Jack.Oh - 12-10-2021 at 08:34 AM

Looks good,

Thursday and Friday you may be able to get in a morning and an evening session. Bonus!!!

jrhook - 14-10-2021 at 05:45 AM

Good, it's been too long away from there. I'll be shopping for a 3-6m depower. Mark are you using that FS Peak?

TEDWESLEY - 14-10-2021 at 02:18 PM

It's all good! Let it blow for a change!

The visible parts of the Golden Belly Flop should be removed by then

scott

soliver - 11-2-2022 at 10:55 AM

I thought I might be able to come by and say hey to the gang, but we are leaving SSI this year before JIBE starts. Sorry to miss you guys, maybe I'll see y'all next year.

mystainedskin - 11-2-2022 at 09:10 PM

Preps begun..
New bearings for the MG
Visiting fab shop for new fork on the xr+
Drifter is gtg
Virus is always in working order
......and just picked up BF PL for a price that might make you jealous.
:D
Rebecca is gonna be packing a new blokart also!
Good thing I got a bigger van ....lol

Finally! I was wondering when she would pull the trigger and just get one. I could tell she always has more fun on the blokart than on a buggy.

Rebecca - 28-2-2022 at 03:08 PM

I get on here to confirm dates so I can book a place and find you talking about me. LOL
Yes, the Blokart is awesome! I also have a larger NPW coming so I might buggy a little too.
Unfortunately Goodwin will not make another appearance at JIBE. We will bringing Addison with us, but I'm not sure she can fit in the Blokart.

Same here Mark, imma looking at it and arranging my ducks

speleopower - 12-3-2022 at 06:13 PM

I'm working on it for this year. May 16-20? I hope to make it up there with or without the fam/friends.

TEDWESLEY - 4-5-2022 at 08:58 AM

I'm sitting in the backyard on Jekyll waiting for the tide (low about 6pm) and letting you know that the beach is ready.
Come on down and Jekyll will welcome you, as will all your kiting pals.
This ain't Portland Me. that's for certain.

Randy - 4-5-2022 at 11:41 AM

I am hoping to make it too. I had minor surgery on my big toe last week, but I'm hoping that won't be a problem by then.

Demoknight - 5-5-2022 at 07:23 AM

Speedy recovery Randy! I hope to see you all in a little over a week.

Randy - 6-5-2022 at 04:06 AM

Thanks. Looking forward to it!

Jack.Oh - 10-5-2022 at 07:46 AM

Less then a week to go. Normally I would be packing and getting all geared up. But, I actually am still packed from the Wildwood Buggy Bash. So not much to do except wait. Anyway looking forward to it. See you all soon!

flyhighWNY - 10-5-2022 at 08:10 PM

I'm isn't it happening now?

Randy - 11-5-2022 at 05:03 AM

Starts Monday.

flyhighWNY - 12-5-2022 at 10:25 PM

Wish I could be there

Demoknight - 13-5-2022 at 09:06 AM

I am excited to be seeing several of you guys tomorrow! I have been needing this break from work for almost a year!

frankiter - 13-5-2022 at 09:46 AM

It doesn't feel like it, but it's been three years since I set foot on JI. I'll be driving down tomorrow with my much better half, see you all then!

Randy - 13-5-2022 at 10:24 AM

I'm packing my car, but timetable a bit uncertain for now.

It hasn't been the same without you Frank!

markite - 13-5-2022 at 08:33 PM

have a great time everyone, looking forward to seeing some updates, stories and photos.

TEDWESLEY - 15-5-2022 at 06:31 AM

As a heads up for y'all, kite beach has moved north to the Oceanview beach. This is the old site of the commercial area. there is a ramp that will take buggies, and the beach between the ramp and the former kite beach is usually sparsely populated. You won't have to drag your buggy through someone's
event at the Great Dunes pavilion! Full moon tomorrow so the spring tides will rule higher highs and lower lows for the next couple of days.

Randy - 15-5-2022 at 08:28 AM

Can we still ride down to the water tower?

Randy, we can go almost to the water tower. The official stop point is the last walk over before the water tower. You'll see a sign there that says no dogs allowed. They forgot to add no kite buggies allowed, but it was their intent.:D

We want to do head out about this time, but the zappy zapps are due west of us and uncomfortably close

Randy - 15-5-2022 at 10:37 AM

Thanks.

Randy, ted, are you guys on facebook? I have a Facebook group of the people who are here at JIBE this year, but I can't find you guys on FB.

frankiter - 15-5-2022 at 11:18 AM

Chris and I are here at the south tower, trying to decide if we should pack up or not.

I have it, but don't use it much. If you have group I can search for it.

Jack.Oh - 16-5-2022 at 04:44 AM

Hi all, I got here last night. Planing to get to the beach around 10:30. The tide should be on its way out by then.

See you all there!!

TEDWESLEY - 16-5-2022 at 05:19 AM

We had a small meetup at Oceanview Beach yesterday afternoon as the tide swallowed the beach. While I have a Facebook account, I rarely look at it, not much of a media guy, I guess. I'll give it a look at some point, but I'd rather see you in person!

TEDWESLEY - 16-5-2022 at 07:00 AM

One other thing. When you are looking for tide information use the St Simons Light tide station not the Jekyll Marina. There is about 45min. difference
with the Jekyll site lagging St. Simons. It takes time for the sound to fill up so high and low tides are earlier on the ocean side of the island. Our property
management included a tide sheet but it was for the marina. Close but no cigar, as they say.

frankiter - 16-5-2022 at 07:22 AM

Chris and I are set up at Oceanview, waiting for family, wind and tide.
Look for the two white pop up canopies.

tobytobsen - 16-5-2022 at 05:24 PM

Looks like I am actually home (JI) this time around. I am in the market for a new kite and was looking at the Peter Lynn nova series
Has anyone tried them or better yet is going to fly them this week??

Toby

soliver - 16-5-2022 at 08:25 PM

I was on SSI for the last 2 weeks and spent a day on Jekyll as well and the wind was BEAUTIFUL almost the whole time! ... It was blowing on-shore in the 10-20 mph range at least 90% of my time there! I flew a lot of S L K-s and had fun-fam time! ... If that holds, you guys will be in for a kick-butt JIBE!

Y'all have fun and post lotsa pics!

Jack.Oh - 17-5-2022 at 03:16 AM

Ok, I'm not great at pics but here is a start.
Monday around 11:00 am.

JIBE 2022 is now in the books and I'm sure it will go down as one of the greatest ones. It was really to see and talk to everyone. Thanks to Angus for keeping this event going and picking the best days for it. I'm working on some video, featuring my WingBuggy. But I've got a lot to sort through. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were the sea breeze days we all love. Had to leave Thursday AM, so I'd love to hear how the rest of the week turned out.

Ouch!! :) Fun to see those.
