Just got my comp 90 in the mail today. No wind so I tried some downhill runs. I hurt a bit, but more importantly have a question. Speed wobbles? why
do they happen, how do I stop it? Is it just a matter of in experience and poor balance?
Thanks,
Seeger

Loose trucks, if you're running skate style trucks tighten them up, if you're running egg shocks, replace them with stiffer shocks, possibly the lil
snowman ones.

On the skate style trucks... I use a lower end MBS ambush warrior... the stock rubber wore out quick and would wobble easily... but for a few
bucks it can be replaced easily with (doh doh's) and available at almost any good skateboard shop. I find the yellow ones (medium soft) or red
(medium hard) work the best for me. With the red ones, I can really get going at speeds and still be nice and stable.

Replacing components will help, but ultimately you will still end up with speed wobbles, just now at higher speeds.
Speed wobbles are produced by many contributing factors. One major one is components, but after that is skill. As time goes by you'll learn how to
correctly shift your weight and account for a smoother ride. Not to so say you still won't get them, just again at higher speeds. But with that skill
comes the ability to handle them.
One option is to carve off the speed. Continually keep yourself carving, the steeper the hill the harder the carve needed to eliminate speed,
therefore speed wobbles. though I must say this is only fun for so long....
I found doing downhill with 4 wheels, no matter what the board is, the most effective way to eliminate speed wobbles once they occur is to slide the
speed off and a pair of sliding gloves can go a LONG way in this regard.
Of course you could always get a Dirtsurfer and just eliminate the problem all together, he he.

well the comp 90 has those new trucks, i know nothing about them but they look like a mix of matrix trucks and skate trucks, they adjust like skate
trucks but it looks like it has some kind of way to absorb stuff unlike skate trucks, so maybe just tighten your trucks if they feel loose, i mostly
downhill
it is probally just your trucks, there some were in between with sk8 trucks were you dont get speed wobble until a decent speed but you can still turn
good, just adjust your trucks until you find that
i saw one of those boards in a kite shop in outer banks, the trucks have a weird set up but look good for kiting since they are lighter then matrix
but probally the hardware last longer then sk8 trucks
and a matter of fact my friend just had a very abd experice with speed wobble down my road, almost every jont in his body was bleeding (he a nub to
board sports)
and i just had experance with speed wobble, i was bombing a pavement hill at about 35mph got speed wobble and ....ya...... fun fun fun.....i cant fly
my kite until the scab is gone cuz it i do it will break and... ya....
