For those of you that have injured yourself while flying...

So while flying my kite in Canada (Banff national park) I was doing pretty well, flying in about 20mph winds.

But in that valley, as I soon figured out, the winds can gust up very quick, nothing like what I was used to here in Sacramento.
A 30-35 mph gust picked me up about 8 feet, and carried me 20-25 feet away. I landed hard and sprained my ankle real good. Swollen, black and blue..the whole bit.

So, to my question, how do you guys explain to the doctors what happened when they ask. You should see some of the looks I get when I tell them I injured myself flying a kite. :)

Yea, when it comes to potential bone breakage, I don't mess around.

What does "landboarding pins" mean? What did you fail? Sorry, I'm new to this and trying to learn about it before I get into it someday.

I think he's trying to say that he had to have pins put into his bones to have them heal correctly.

If you have to get injured, Banff is one fine place to be stuck !

Did you catch up to ant of the Calgary crowd ?

No, my injury happened the day after we got there. So the rest of the week I was a gimp (still am).

I plan on going back for sure, just don't know if the wife will allow me to bring the kite on vacations anymore.
